I am so grateful for the outpouring of support that our little farm has received during this crazy time. We have been so incredibly busy and harvesting every last stem possible as the orders continue to roll in. I am once again reminded of the joy, comfort, inspiration, and hope that flowers provide and I am honored when you choose our flowers for you and your loved ones. To be honest some days it has been tough to manage all of the things right now. Darren is still at work a...nd even working overtime, I am planting our late Spring and our Summer crops, trying to homeschool the kids, harvest all the flowers and make bouquets, water, weed and prep the dahlia field. I believe I harvested our last bucket of narcissus today and I miss them already. However, experiencing flowers seasonally is one of the greatest gifts of my work. I truly appreciate the flowers that much more when they are in season and I miss them so much when they are gone and look forward to them so much throughout the year. Colibri poppies are stealing the show this week !! I have one bed of a overwintered poppies and I just planted another bed of these and Amazing grey poppies which I can’t wait to see in bloom. A trick for better vase life with poppies is to boil or sear the stems right after harvesting. I put a kettle on, quickly go and harvest the poppies and bring them back to the house and dip the stems in the boiling water for about 30 seconds.
