Thursday at the forest What a beautiful day we had. It was perfect. The sun shining through the trees and hearing the children run through the leaves was just so healing. When it was time to go we were all a little sad we didn’t have more time. We explored worms, painted with water colours, used the saw, foraged and made soup and of course broke out some decorations to decorate our stick house. We are soaking in these beautiful fall days before Winter hits and we arent able to spend as much time at the forest.

Some shots of the Sassy Spiders exploring some class baking and new experiences they’ve been immersing themselves in!!! The kids have sparked so much interest around our new decorative fruits that’s in the kitchen centre so we decided to conduct some baking as a whole class. The kids got the chance to discuss the recipes and to stir up our ingredients. We’ve made apple pies, cookies, and fruit salads. We’re big on extensions in this classroom so we’ve given the children the opportunities to make their own apple pies with real ingredients. Also, we set up many provocations first thing in the morning for the children to walk into and spark so many new play ideas and interests. The Sassy Spiders have been loving the winter weather and season! They’ve sparked interests in making snow pies, cakes, castles, and shovelling up huge piles of snow to jump on. The children communicate to one another about how the snow is crunchy, how to make snowmen and snow angels, and searching and exploring for ice that they can jump on and crack with their snow shovels. #sassyspiders #butterflylearning #playbasedpreschool

Today at the duck pond we enjoyed every bit of the sunshine. Colouring in the grass, watching the ducks swim, climbing trees and even going on a nature walk around the pond , exploring new trees and new scenes @ Butterfly Learning Centre

Curious Crickets had a fun filled morning scooping out their pumpkin and exploring the insides. We discovered stringy guts and pumpkin seeds inside. Everyone got to touch it in their own individual sensory bag as we talked about what it felt like in our hands and what it smelt like! #curiouscrickets #butterflylearningcentre #happyhalloween

Today's beautiful fall day brought us to a local green space to enjoy the sun and fall leaves. Drawing the nature around us, collecting some leafy treasures and throwing leaves in the wind was a great way to end the week @ Butterfly Learning Centre
