Five days in to our latest stint in "red", I challenge all riders to use the time to work on some basic fitness! Here's an article, outlining the importance of exercises targeting strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and cardio: https://www.horsejournals.com/building-rider-fitness-program Our first fitness challenge will be in the comments: 1) LEG STRENGTH DAY

I am sure you are all aware we will be transitioning back to the "red" phase of COVID-19 recovery as of midnight tonight. Unfortunately that means organized recreational activities are no longer permitted. In compliance with this, as of January 20, 2021, the Butternut Stables lesson program will be put on hold! Remaining riding fit when not permitted to ride is a struggle! Over the next days, I hope to post some fitness challenges for riders to stay active in their homes or ...yards. Prepare for warmer weather and a possible (hopeful?) show season by remaining active and working on some strength and cardio! Exercise is considered an essential aspect of horse care, also, so boarders and leasers are currently still permitted to attend to exercise their horses. Strict social distancing protocols will remain in effect (as they have been for the past two weeks in the Orange phase). Lessons will resume as soon as we are permitted to offer them. Please "like" and "follow" our facebook page for updates! Thank-you all for your ongoing and continued support throughout these trying time.

Dear riders and families, as we are back in the orange phase of COVID-19 recovery, we are reverting back to our previous safety procedures: - lessons will continue for all riders who feel comfortable attending and who have no symptoms of COVID-19. - If you or a household member is asked to self-isolate, please advise us and take a 2 week break from riding. - Horses will be tacked up for riders and will be brought into the indoor riding arena by your instructor. - Please c...ome directly into the indoor arena through one of the lower entrances (i.e. not through he barn) at the time your lesson is scheduled to begin. - All tack will be sanitized between riders Thank-you for your continued support and patience, as we navigate these difficult times!

Due to increased cases of COVID-19, we have decided to take the following precautions: - If you or a family member is experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please do not attend the barn. Please call/text/message and cancel your lesson. - No lesson students or family members will be permitted in the barn at this time. We hope this will limit the crossing of paths, and any cross-contamination of tools/equipment. ... - Riding lessons will continue, but horses will be tacked up by instructors. Riders are asked to wait in their vehicles until their ride time and enter the indoor riding arena from the sawdust shed, wearing a mask. Riders can then mount their horse and ride without a mask on. After the lesson, riders will dismount, re-mask, and leave the arena through the sawdust shed. - All equipment and tack will be sanitized after each use. - Boarders and leasers can enter the barn, as usual, but should be very diligent maintaining distance, and refrain from sharing equipment. With only this limited number of people entering the barn, we believe we can continue to provide services, safely, at this time. These are trying times; we acknowledge grooming and tacking up your lesson horse is an integral part the riding lesson experience and we hope to allow riders to do so again safely, soon. Thank you for your understanding and continued support!

Please call to cancel your lessons for the next 2 weeks if you have been to Zone 1 or 5 (Moncton or Campbellton) in the last 10 days or if you have any COVID-19 symptoms. Masks are now mandatory for lesson program participants inside the barn.

Have you heard of the 2 minute rule?

Butternut Stables 29.09.2020

To all riders in the Butternut Stables lesson program, please bring and wear a mask while you groom and tack up horses in the barn. Although Butternut Stables is a private facility, it is difficult to maintain social distancing while multiple horses are in the cross ties and people are crossing paths. Once horses are tacked up and everyone is ready to ride, masks can be removed. Thank-you!

After a successful trial run, we are slowly starting to offer more lessons. Over the next few weeks, we will be increasing to one lesson per day with three riders. Operationally, this is all we can offer with the current level of COVID-19 restrictions. These lesson spots will be offered to more advanced riders for the time being, as we are not allowed to teach beginners who need any sort of assistance tacking/grooming/tightening girths etc. If you are contacted about an available spot, please review the attached document with the rules for our lesson program at this time. These rules allow us to offer lessons under the provincially mandated COVID-19 emergency measures regulations so please bear with us as we navigate these unprecedented times!

Might this be a sign of fun things ahead?

Hope everyone is doing well in this strange world! With COVID-19 restrictions easing up, we are looking at starting up lessons again. This week, there will be one trial lesson to confirm we are able to offer lessons as required by the current guidelines. After that, I will slowly start adding students to the schedule. At this time, only riders who are completely independent grooming/tacking/girthing/adjusting stirrups and riding w/t/c in the large lower ring are allowed to ri...de (as per provincial regulations). Please also consider that the lesson horses have had limited work for the past 2 months so are not very fit. Lessons will resume slowly with strict regulations (will be provided ahead of time) so please be patient as we navigate the process. Existing students will be contacted as more suitable spots become available in the program. At this time, I do not know when beginner lessons will be allowed to resume. Thanks for your continued support during these unprecedented times! See more

Dolly is looking for a new home. She would prefer to be a Western horse. She is safe and quiet but needs some work on her lope.

I still have lots of work to do on advertising and organizing my business page but I am now starting to accept new clients. All new clients must have an initial... assessment done prior to a massage session. Follow up visits will only require massages. Please remember if your horse is visibly lame or has any recent injuries I am unable to work on them until cleared by your veterinary. I am not a replacement for lameness assessments but can work with your horses wellness team (vet, chiropractor, farrier, trainer etc) to help your horse feel and perform its best. Please feel free to contact me with any questions See more
