Folklore Farm 24.01.2021

Uhhh, heck no. says the herd. Poor Blue looking a little annoyed about this costal snow. Fortunately it’s looking like it’s going to be pretty mild for the two does kidding soon. Flux is due tomorrow and she’s got softening ligaments but not looking super ready yet. I’ve got a single buckling vibe off her which is not ideal. Fingers crossed I’m wrong. Few more days methinks!

Next up after Flux is Blue. Another unregistered girl, Blue is a Thistle Creek Ruby Tuesday daughter and my longtime herd queen and best milker. For something a little different, I bred Blue to both Curl Creek Charlatan and Cedar Green PSO Sequoia. I would be happy either either outcome and I figured for once it might be fun to play guess the daddy . This will be Blue’s 5th freshening Due Feb 4th

Can’t believe it’s less than a month before we have babies! This is Flux, one of our 3 beautiful unregistered girls. Flux comes from all registered lines with the exception of her material grandsire who was purebred but unregistered. I’ve owned Flux’s dam Beth and aunt Blue for coming on 7 years and both of them have been strong easy keepers/kidders and wonderful milkers. Flux was bred last fall to our buck Cedar Green PSO Sequoia and she is due at the end of this month. Eek! This will be Flux’s first freshening but I have high hopes that she will follow in the footsteps of her mom and aunt and be an excellent small farm milker.
