This is achievable because we consider the whole person which includes our Guests’ loved ones, their spiritual self and their preferences for care. One is born once and dies once and so it is a reverent time and a privilege to provide service. Thanks to our fun and dedicated support staff, our management team, our doctors, our volunteers and my co-nurses, I look forward to coming to work. It’s also a great feeling to know that my hospice model is financially sustainable because a large portion of our funds come from the community! Alright ladies and gentlemen. Here it is. I’m doing what I can to support local businesses affected by this latest lockdown and I hope you all can to!! For some... it’s buying a gift card to use later on when they can reopen, for others it’s getting take out since we can’t sit down inside! Did you know! Renfrew hospice was the first rural residential hospice in the Province of Ontario. They have six beds and offer private rooms and bathrooms in a bright, homey space. They provide specialized care through highly-trained staff and volunteers and they care about your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. They provide emotional support for family members before, during and after care at hospice.... They offer free grief and bereavement services for residents and family members, as well as other residents of Renfrew County. They have 70 active volunteers at Hospice providing 7000 hours of service each year. Volunteer Teams include: Reception, Resident and Family Support, Gardening/maintenance, Baking and Fund Development. Residents’ pets are allowed to visit and therapy dogs visit weekly. They receive 51% of funding from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The remaining $630,000.00 they have to fundraise. Palliative care provides comfort and a high quality of life throughout a life-limiting illness. Hospice is about living well. People go to hospice to live well while they get help to manage their symptoms, to give their caregivers a short break or full care when they are approaching the end of their life-limiting illness. A typical length of stay at hospice is a few days, weeks or several months.

Did you know! In the main hallway of Hospice Renfrew lies this superb landscape mural. It was crafted by Don Burchat and donated in loving memory of his wife, Audrey, who passed away at Hospice Renfrew in May 2011. The scene represents rural Renfrew County and is constructed of various local woods. Each component of the scene may be purchased with a single donation and will be acknowledged with an engraved brass plaque. These funds will sustain Hospice programs, services, and support future projects. To add your plaque or for more information please contact Renfrew Hospice!
