This is how not to ship a refrigerated unit folks. Sometimes it's just necessary to tip them on their sides or flat to transport them in your pick up or trailer or tip/flip the oversized ones to get them in the door. If you do need to tip it or lay them down, always make sure you let the unit rest for an appropriate length of time before you plug the unit in. ... Why? When you tip a refrigeration unit, the oil in the compressor is displaced. If you plug it in right after tipping it, especially if it has been laying flat or on its side (or as in Exhibit A, on its top) for long periods of time, you will blow your compressor. It is recommended to wait at least 24 hours after tipping a unit to let the oil settle back where it should be. Happy Friday - and please don't tip your refrigeration on it's top!
