Great IRCC announcement today allows: "international students who hold or held a PGWP will have the opportunity to apply for an open work permit. Foreign nationals in Canada affected by the pandemic with an expired or expiring PGWP will have a unique chance to apply for another open work permit. These will be valid for 18 months and allow former international students to remain in Canada, continue to seek employment and build their future in this country." At a time of uncertainty international students are graduating with million questions in mind! To answer students' concerns we hosted a "Career Advising and the Path to Permanent Residency in Canada" webinar during Bow Valley College IEW celebration. Today, students and alumni were able to join Colleen Inkyung WI, International Learner Advisor - RCIC and Arlayna Alcock MEd (UCalgary), Career Advisor - CCDP in an informative webinar which focused on permanent residency options in Canada for international students and graduates and discussed how to start a career as an initial step to becoming a permanent resident.

International Education Week is a celebration of cultures, diversity and internationalization. For today's session, we hosted our alumnus Izuchukwu Igwe in a very engaging webinar "Discovery Hub: Pan African Experience". This webinar was a retrospective look at a very successful event that was hosted by our Intercultural Center at Bow Valley College where Igwe planned and organized the stations that highlighted a showcase to touch on multiple aspects of cultures from different African countries. This webinar highlighted some very rich and fascinating aspects of the traditions. arts, music and food from multiple African countries.
