Hello Gorgeous! I've been eyeing this beautiful pendant for months to go in my living room...yes you read that right in my living room. Pendants are a great way to add interest to your living space! I am 99% sure I'm going to go for it. What's stopping me you ask? I don't know... overthinking things... like I always do! Design by @studiomcgee

Selections Board I couldn't decided between the two light fixtures for this dining room, so I left it up to the client. Which one do you think she went for.. Left or Right? Which one would you go for? The pieces are starting to arrive for the #RueDeGenevriersProject and we are so excited about it!

A couple of days ago someone informed me that I am nominated for the Ottawa Faces Interior Design Company of the year award. WHO DID THAT?! Thanks so much to the person who took the time to nominate me. I'd love it if you reached out! Firstly, because I am so curious of who likes my work enough to do me the honour and because I'd like to say, Gracias! I looked into it and winners are determined on most votes and people can vote once a day. This is a hard concept for me, bec...ause I don't feel cool enough to ask for votes daily until the contest closes on January 30th. But it is a great way to discover businesses in our city in many different categories. Check it out at https://facesmag.ca/awards/?nonamp=1#wpforms-23814. There are some amazing businesses listed, so being included amongst the talent in our city is a win for me in itself! Thanks so much to my nominator, whoever you may be.

Happy New Year Everyone! I am just getting into the swings of things again. I got through answering all my emails received during the holidays. It was so nice to be signed out of the emails for a week. The 24-26 I did n o t h i n g at all! I ate, watched TV and slept. Both my body and brain refused to function haha. It was needed. After 3 days of slothing around I was so productive that I...drumroll...did my taxes!! What an accomplishment! Running a business creates so much p...aperwork to put together for my accountant, so tax season has always stressed me out. This year it's pretty much out of the way. 90% of it is done already. So that's my small victory that I am celebrating internally. I also cleaned my office and spare bedroom, bought a new laptop and an agenda (am I the only one who still loves writing on agendas?) it has me so excited to get my work all organized. I think this year we all need to focus on the little things we can accomplish to keep our sanity. Let's focus on the the mild temperatures we are having this January which makes that daily walk enjoyable if you decide to go for it and that we can be cozy and curl up at home more than ever. I love this living room past project transformation. From dark and drab to a bright and airy feel! : @hilaryelizabethphotography #gladewoodsmodernfarmhouse @ Ottawa, Ontario See more

I presented my last design of the year today! An ensuite, main washroom and new laundry combo. They were also crushing on this ensuite's tile - it's such a fan favorite! Lots of new design ideas coming your way in #2021 with so many exciting projects to look forward to! As we spend some extra time indoors, I'm so happy to be able to focus on helping people create dream spaces. Remotely or in person I continue to serve... after my much needed holiday vacay that is! #SellersWayReno @ Ottawa, Ontario

Working on a master ensuite and a main bathroom today. 2021 will be filled with exciting projects! In the meantime, I am so looking forward to Christmas vacation on T-minus 5 days! I hope most of you are enjoying some holiday time off already and if not, soon! #SellersWayReno before & after @ Ottawa, Ontario

Another trip down memory lane. The #SellersWayReno was completed in 2017 and photographed in January of the following year. I really loved this project. The sloped ceiling and skylight presented a challenge for my clients who at the time had gone to a big box store for design advice. Unhappy with the layout they received at the kitchen and bath centre, they hired me to help them. At the time, I didn't even have an official website. I had an ad on Kijiji and a website-blog (I ...totally made up that term). It was basically a page with creative photos to promote my Bachelor's Degree in Interior design. I am so happy my clients decided to give a newbie an opportunity. I wasn't finding any jobs where I could design, so I formed my own path. Always keep looking, there will be someone who will keep you a chance! I loved the challenge the skylight and sloped ceiling presented and I designed around them, but I also designed the space to highlight these architectural features. One of my favorite projects to date! #oldiebutagoddie @ Ottawa, Ontario See more

Two of my favorite details of the #GesnerCourtRemodel were the wood floating shelves and the marble backsplash. Stone and wood - love this combination! @ Kanata, Ontario

Always bring your kitchen cabinets all the way to the ceiling if you have the chance to do so! It will make your space feel taller and more finished. Plus lots of dust and grease accumulates up there when left open, because let's be honest, most of us will never clean up there! Over the years, the top gets pretty gritty. If you have standard 8ft or 9ft ceilings definitely go for the extra tall upper cabinets and close it up! Makes all the difference as seen in this before and after. #gesnercourtremodel @ Kanata, Ontario

Refaced kitchen cabinets This is a great way to update your kitchen and I often offer consultations for this type of project. In a nutshell, refacing your kitchen is only worth it, if your current layout WORKS for you and your space. If your space doesn't have the best layout possible or there is wasted square footage, I advise investing in new cabinetry. Otherwise, you'll be missing out on added functionality that a new design can offer. In the Gesner project the layout w...orked perfectly. The stove, fridge and sink worked with the triangle principle and the interior of the cabinets were in good condition. We added top boxes to bring the cabinets to the ceiling, new doors and refaced the existing cabinets. Also, added floating shelves and drawers beside the fridge for better storage. Plus all new flooring, new microwave, dishwasher, hardware and extended the quartz countertop to allow for a breakfast bar. It was still an extensive kitchen reno and lots to coordinate! This project gave me that final push I needed to start my own design company and I'm so grateful I was trusted with this design. It's always a special trip down memory lane. #GesnerCourtRemodel @ Kanata, Ontario See more
