This week's bee feature is: The Honeybee Honeybees are an important part of the pollination process for lowbush (wild) blueberries in the Maritimes. Their hives... can have a population of up to 80,000 bees! One other fun fact you might like to know: honeybees return to their hives at dusk! What a clever creature.

The beekeeping season has wrapped up... literally. It was a beautiful day to give the bees their final treatment for mites, wrap the hives and send them into winter. With the warm days this week the bees have a final opportunity to gather some pollen for next spring, and they were even finding some orange pollen as well. We had a few challenges this year but they look great heading into the winter. Stay healthy. Rest easy. Gather energy. Drop into the Honey Shack at the end of our driveway for your supply of our delicious honey, or at The Local Shop at Peakes Quay in Charlottetown or send us a message. We've slightly updated our labels for our new honey jars in preparation for the upcoming honey harvest! We hope to have some honey available in the next 2-3 weeks. There are some other exciting things happening for us this summer as well. We're as busy as bees!
