A week in Psalm 87 - Daily Devotional Day 4: The verse describes it as the talk of the town! Native-born from here, there, and everywhere become ‘native born-again’ Zioners one big colorful family! It is the True Community of born-again tamed hearts where "the lion lays down with the lamb and those who were once adversaries find they are brothers and sisters born for adversity to help weather tough times together. ... It is enough to make one brag on one another, So glad you too were born in Zion! To honor, prefer, and affirm one another goes with the territory of hearts tamed to become one. So it is then, two things we want our church to be known for: 1) Unity in diversity, and... 2) The spiritual nursery is again prolific in new life! A week in Psalm 87 - Daily Devotional Day 3: ...talking about who? Me? God? Well yes, both... There is something a whole lot worse than everyone talking about youit’s never being spoken of. There's a "hometown" buzz when church is True Community just as in the town square, or the piazza, the cafe or the village pub. ... Again the Message Bible captures the vibe of what is really going on:.. Gods’ hometown! Oh! Everyone there is talking about you! Glorious things are spoken of you O city of God! Stop and think about that. Its social discourse, its How are the kids?Where are the kids?Whose kid is that?You mean they are going to have a kid! It is relating, its communicating, its joining in and inviting others to join the conversation. There’s humor, there’s banter, there’s catching up, there’s sharing and there is caringthere is good and godly talk about everything and everyone. It’s good mannered family talk without gossip and murmuring and complaining! When Church is our "True Community", when we are at home in His Home, God and our church are easily talked about and "up-talked" and so they should be! #c3vancouver #c3acrosstown #c3canada

A week in Psalm 87 - Daily Devotional Day 2: As good as other places are, there is no place like home--and Oh how God loves his home [Message Bible, Psalm 87:2]. And there is no place He calls home like the church! So how do we see church?... Some things church is not--It is not a building, not a meeting, not a denomination or a movement. It is not a program, not electronic but flesh and blood. Not virutal but real life, not an etherial heavenly body or an intangible universal Church, but the community of the redeemed. This means church is not a cafeteria--pick your food and run. Nor is it a club where you pay your dues, keep the rules, enjoy the benefits, etc. Church is home. Church is a warts and all family in Holy Communion with Jesus. Perhaps we should rediscover His love for the church ourselves. Prayer Online is at 7:30PM tonight on FB (link in bio). A week in Psalm 87 - Daily Devotional Day 1: In Hebrews the verse reads, His foundation is in the Hill of Holiness. All God does has its foundation in His holiness. Foundation > think roots, i.e. that which provides stability, longevity, ‘sustaining-ability’ and eventually from the food root comes the good fruit!... It is startling then to realize Zion is prophetic code for Church! It is not an earthly place and neither is it heaven. Zion is the community of Holy God. Isaiah 51:6 says, Say to Zion, you are My people. Hebrews 12:22-23 says, You have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and CHURCH of the firstborn who are registered in heaven Like the mountains about us, Jesus’ Church steadfastly remains as the community in which a life-long walk with God is sustained.
