Job Description: The Indigenous Men’s Leadership Coordinator will work under the direction of the Director of National Programs, and is a member of the CAAN Program’s Team. The main objective is to oversee the planning, directing, and implementation of Indigenous leadership development initiatives specific for the male demographic, as well as to provide an opportunity for male collective voices to be acknowledged and recognized in all of CAAN’s activities. They will work under the guidance of the CAAN Indigenous Men’s Committee (to be developed) and is the main conduit between this committee and the organization. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Director of National Programs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate the development of an Indigenous Men’s Committee, provide technical and logistical support to this membership and oversee the evaluation of the committee’s role in order to ensure that Men’s Voices in particular Indigenous Men Living with HIV and AIDS and that they are meaningfully involved in the work undertaken by CAAN; Provide administrative service(s): i.e. organizing quarterly teleconferences, virtual and in-person meeting(s); developing agendas, preparing minutes, and other administrative duties as required for the Men’s Committee; Provide records of meetings, distribute, and circulate to the Men’s Committee and to CAAN Management for reporting purposes: Review documents prepared by CAAN, provide feedback when required, prepare reports and briefs for management committees evaluating administrative services; Ensuring that the Terms of Reference for the CAAN Men’s Committee are developed, implemented, and revised from time to time; Ensure that the CAAN Men’s Committee is engaged in the campaigns undertaken by CAAN; i.e. Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Week campaigns, Hepatitis C Campaigns, National campaigns as supported by CAAN. Ensure that the Indigenous men’s voices are represented at various tables, campaigns, policy making, decision making, review marketing materials as required to ensure Indigenous men are represented in the work undertaken by CAAN and their partners. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports. Assist in any other work that will further the objective of ensuring that Indigenous men address the high rates of HIV, Hepatitis C, STBBIs, mental health and aging. Develop and Implement the Indigenous Men’s Leadership work plan. Work with the Program’s Team and the organization overall, to ensure that Indigenous Men are represented in the materials that are developed. Other duties as required. Other Duties Include: The Indigenous Men’s Leadership Coordinator will strive to keep CAAN appraised of any concerns, issues or challenges that will need to be addressed in a timely manner. The Coordinator must have a valid passport and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
