CABC DH Division (Red Deer)

Congratulations to Toben Spencer-Lang on his silver medal performance at the Provincial Championships in Grande Prairie last weekend! I guess all that training in Whistler paid off. Adam was almost on the podium finishing just 2 spots behind Toben for forth place. Thomas rode well finishing in 5th place in his category. Brett’s chain fell off early in his run and he had to complete his race without pedal power. Sept 1 will see the entire team of 5 riders racing together in Fernie for the final Alberta Series / BC Cup race.

The DH Division raced the wild Western Open at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Aug 3-4 and I can sum up the weekend in one word - Carnage! Collectively the team saw multiple crashes, cuts, scrapes, bruises, a charley-horse, messed up shoulder, spine board, hospital visit, spider bite, and even a pedal ripped out of a crank arm. The boys were definately having a good time! Zach Shipowick had the team's best result landing on the podium in third place in the "only for the deranged" Hardtail catagory. He had a busy weekend as he aslo raced in the Citizen Men's DH race and entered the Huck to Flat competition (37 feet!). Everyone is healing up nicely and will be ready to go for the Provincial Championships at Grande Prairie on Aug 25.
