We received the results from ECLAIR'S GENETIC TESTING and ALL TESTS FOR 54 POSSIBLE ABNORMALITIES ARE NORMAL. We did her through a different company than the others - CatScan. https://www.mycatscan.com/
Bette has settled in quite nicely and has decided this room will suit her just fine thank you
We have Mikkel's basepaws results - 39 genetic health markers, associated with 17 diseases - and they are ALL CLEAR! He has the highest genomic similarity to (of the western breed group) Maine Coon with the usual splash of Ragdoll, Russian Blue, and Siberian. All of our Maine Coon types have a similar profile, just in different degrees. When I bought him I was told that he was a Maine Coon X Norwegian Forest Cat, but according to basepaws he has zero genomic similarity to... the NFC. So, there you go. People are selling fuzzy kittens, charging a small fortune for them (I paid $950.00 for Mikkel), and they are not what they’re claimed to be. BUYER BE AWARE! He is turning out to be a big floppy, super affectionate and easy-going boy! Socially responsible breeding includes producing a healthy animal with a stable, easy-going temperament as a number one priority. Animals produced in kitty/puppy mills do not have this neurological stability and are much more likely to get frightened by something, run away, get lost, and end up in a shelter or Rescue.
The Pet Professional Guild was probably the first association that I became involved with when I first started working with dogs. That was about 2013, and I still live by these principles every day. We are a revolution to promote kindness and respect for all animals on the planet.
As a canine behaviour consultant, I've been involved with and supported this association for about 10 years. They do much more than just behaviour work. This year I've renewed my membership - but in the Feline division. As a breeder, and someone who is responsible for animals hitting our streets, so to speak, I think it's really important to be educated and stay current with what's going on.
