Our sincere condolences to the family. Moe was Pike Derby chaiman for many years.
Here we are just a couple of weeks away from what would have been the 38th annual Pike Tournament but unfortunately it won't happen for another year. The Sturgeon Falls Rod and Gun club would like to thank last year's sponsors and to remind you to continue to support them.
Due to the circumstances you are all aware of the Sturgeon Falls Rod and Gun club has made the decision of canceling or should we say postponing the 38th pike derby until next year. Hope to see you all next year.
Good day anglers! The 38th Sturgeon Falls Rod and Gun Club Cache Bay Pike Derby registration is open. Scheduled for Saturday May 23rd, the registrations will only be accepted when they are paid for. The process is: 1) you send a e-transfer to [email protected] 2) when we process the transfer we send back a link to the registration form that needs to be filled out. 3) when we receive the completed registration form we will send out a confirmation of registration and ...entry with the team number. Another option is to print out the registration form from the website, www.piketournament.ca and mail it in with your cheque to the address on the form. If you wish to pay in cash please contact John Thornton at 705-753-2980 or 705-492-6232.
Here is a copy of the result of the first 40 finishers in last week's tournament. CONGRATULATIONS to all who participated.
We would like to thank all the anglers for their patience with the last minute changes and delays due to the flood conditions. We also thank all the volunteers who braved the weather and long days to execute this massive project. Thank you to the Municipality of West Nipissing for opening and preparing the boat launch, without it we could have not had the tournament. A special shout out to all our Sponsors, thank you very much, we will post a list soon so you can all express your gratitude to them personally. A very special thank you to Tim Zaba who at the last minute threw us a life ring by providing us, free of charge, with a barge to use to be able to measure your fish on the water.
Good evening anglers, sorry for the late update . Members of the Rod and Gun club will be at the launch in Cache Bay by the trailer park at 5:00 am to inspect boats for the teams in the first heat and give them their tags. Teams from the second heat will have their inspection and tags at the barge anchored in the bay but not until 7:30. Anyone from the first heat launching somewhere else will have to make their way to the dock by the launch to get inspected and get their tag. Teams from the second heat will go to the barge for 7:30. Please be mindful of wakes and look out for floatìng debris on the lake. Good luck and be safe.
Earlyer today a couple of members of our organizing committee had a meeting with Stephan Poulin, Chief Richard Maranda and Chief Ray St. Pierre and they were comfortable with our plan to protect property and manage traffic and parking. So the tournament is on. We will keep you updated as soon as the final plans are ready.
The Sturgeon Falls Rod & Gun Club Pike Tournament committee is determined to have the 37th annual fishing tournament on May 25th as scheduled. Everything is in place for a successful event except for getting you and your boat on the water and we’re working on that. Stay tuned!
The Sturgeon Falls Rod and Gun Club Pike Derby committee is aware of the recent closing of the boat launches in the area and the lack of docks in place and are looking at the options available. We will advise as soon as a decision has been made.

As communicated via email last week, the SFRGC tournament committee would like to make everyone aware that this years' tournament will be capped at a maximum of 200 paid teams. Furthermore, to help our volunteers make this great tournament easier to execute, tournament registration will also close on May 1st regardless of the number of registered teams.
