CHICKENPOX & IBUPROFEN - please remind people NOT to give children ibuprofen if there is a potential diagnosis of chicken pox. This type of medication is an an...ti-inflammatory - it reacts with chicken pox making them go deeper into the skin tissue. The NHS website does state for children NOT to take ibuprofen based products for chickenpox. It should also state this on all IBUPROFEN and Branded Ibuprofen bottles. Children are advised to use paracetamol in the correct dosage for their age or weight. NHS guidance for chickenpox: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Chickenpox/Pages/Treatment.aspx Remember your pharmacist is able to give you advice on analgesia and chicken pox in children.
