Canadian Design and Construction Report 06.04.2021

Our Vancouver team has broken ground on Phase 2 of the Royal Columbian Hospital redevelopment! This redevelopment phase will create a new tower with more beds... for intensive care, cardiac intensive care, and surgical patients. The tower will have four more operating rooms, will provide more maternity beds, and will offer a rooftop helipad. We are excited to be a part of the team breathing life back into B.C’s oldest hospital! #YVR #NewWestminster #healthcare #construction #constructionservices

One of CAWIC’s continued mandates is to promote education and encourage women to pursue careers in the construction industry. Each year the Bursary Committee se...lects the successful recipients of CAWIC Bursaries from post-secondary applicants. This week we will be introducing the four CAWIC 2020 Bursary Recipients: Introducing Ashley An, Civil Engineering Student at University of Toronto ! Ashley has just completed her third year of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. This year, she is completing a year-long Co-Op term with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks as an Engineering Assistant to promote the safeguarding of natural resources. As a LEED GA, she is passionate about sustainable living through better BIM and strives to empower more women in construction management to achieve this. Ashley also pushes the boundaries of conventional design; as Project Manager of the University of Toronto Concrete Canoe Team, she challenges the unexpected by designing canoes made of concrete that float! Ashley is continuously inspired by the city’s changing skyline and hopes to realize new sustainability challenges to meet the needs of future generations. See more
