Hugging Trees In the time of the Ancestors, everything in Creation had a voice. To truly understand our surroundings, we need to go back to these ways. The Wal...nut Tree has been here a longer time, as the trunk is larger. It represents Caldwell First Nation, the Original People of Point Pelee. The younger Hackberry Tree represents the Staff of Point Pelee National Park as they embrace the Traditions of the Ancestors. The Walnut and Hackberry embrace each other. Our roots are embedded in Mother Earth, growing together and sheltering each other. They can teach us, if we listen. Touch these Trees and hear their stories. They grow united, in balance. This is one story of the relationship between Caldwell First Nation and Point Pelee National Park.

The month of February is the Bear Moon. The Bear is medicine. Within the process of making art there is medicine. It’s therapeutic and relaxing. Tonight was goo...d medicine. So good to see and be a part of this community coming together. Much laughter, joy and good food. Fantastic results and a great addition to the many paintings they have already created. See more
