On this Giving Tuesday we want to take the time to say Thank You to this giving community! Your support during these difficult times means so much. For those of you who need some help, please don't hesitate to contact us. Because of the generous donations from so many businesses, organizations, and individuals, we can make things a little easier this Christmas, by providing you and your family with a turkey, food hamper, fresh produce, fruit, treats, toiletries, winter clothing and a gift card. Please call us at (905)765-9287 or e-mail [email protected] for more details on receiving assistance or donating. Strict Health and Safety procedures are in place to keep our food bank operating.

Living through COVID19 can be difficult for anyone, not just those living with a diagnosed mental illness. There are some strategies that anyone can apply to m...anage through these challenging times: Know what to do if you are sick and are concerned about COVID-19. Contact a health professional before you start any self-treatment for COVID-19. Know where and how to get treatment and other support services and resources, including counseling or therapy (in person or through telehealth services). Take care of your emotional health. Taking care of your emotional health will help you think clearly and react to the urgent needs to protect yourself and your family. Take breaks from watching, reading or listening to news stories, including those on social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting. Take care of your body by eating healthy, well balanced meals and exercising regularly. STOPtake deep breaths, stretch or meditate. Engage in mindfulness activities. Get plenty of sleep. Avoid excessive alcohol and drug use. Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoyor used to enjoy before life got too busy pre-pandemic. Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feelingor just to catch up on the day’s events or your favourite television program. Just remember to keep the six foot distance and to wear your mask. Physical distancing does not mean you have to socially distance. Connect with your community or faith-based organizations. While physical distancing measures are in place, consider connecting online, through social media or by phone or mail. Againengage in physical distancingavoid social distancing. And, remember, if you’re struggling with what is going on around you and/or in your day-to-day, you can always call the Crisis Assessment and Support Team (CAST) at 1-866-487-2278. CAST is available 24/7 and you can remain anonymous if you wish. It’s okay to call now, before you find yourself in even greater distress.
