Ms.Leung’s Year 8 students have started an art auction! Students wish to raise awareness and funds for Avenue 15 Shelter and the effects the pandemic has had on our local community. The theme of the art auction is ‘Light’ to encourage everyone to hope and happiness in our current situation. CAA Education Centre students pay their respects at today’s online Remembrance Day Assembly.
In Dance class, Year 10 students went on a virtual field trip to the Royal Opera House in London, UK to watch and participate in World Ballet Day.
Year 8/9 students are now settled in their new, physically-distanced space at Stampede’s Agriculture Building. Thank you @calgarystampede for accommodating us. Thank you CAA staff and students for working so hard in preparing this space.

CAA Adult Choir prepares to go on stage at last nights Year 8/9 showcase CAMP at Vertigo Theatre.
The Global Leadership Club are excited for the arrival of t-shirts and scrunchies that they designed. They will be displayed at a fashion show at the Fairtrade conference next week.
Year 2/3 students are excited to present their showcase Comic Con Adventures. There will be a play about superheroes, a comic inspired museum, singing, dancing and merchandise (including comic books) for sale.
CAA alumni Kate Stevens is competing in the 2020 CBC Searchlight competition. The winner of the Searchlight competition will perform at the Junos. Vote for Kate here: https://ngx.me/3pBXGbi.h
Year 6 students are learning about the phases and surface of the moon through an art project with Mr. Carl and Ms. Leung. The moons are shaped with drywall paste and painted.
Global Leadership Club students are excited to start designing Fairtrade fashion with t-shirts from Green Campus Cotton.
Year 4/5 students have fun creating clay puppet heads.
The Rocktagon is a hit the week at the Education Centre!
CAAs elementary students enjoy some exercise thanks to a visit from Alien In-line this week.
Keeping with CAA tradition, elementary students created bookmarks during their Christmas crafting on Thursday.
Congratulations to CAAs Year 4 to 9 students for placing 2nd in their category in CBC Musics Music Class Challenge! We were the highest ranked performance overall and the only Calgary school to be named as a top 3 finalist in any of the 11 categories. Well done!
Our elementary students are looking forward to Ugly Sweater Day on December 19th.
CAA students impressed a full house with their performance of A Kind of 24K Magic for the finale of Magic Happens When ... - our winter celebration at the Jube on Friday.
This week, Mr Arno presented some animal artifacts to Year 2/3 students to enrich their learning about animals and animal life cycles.

Year 6 students welcomed Detective Dave Sweet as a guest speaker. They are currently working on the Evidence and Investigation unit in science.
Year 2/3 students studied literacy and math concepts in their learning contract Le Deux Trois. These studies resulted in the presentation of their so named restaurant on October 10. They were thrilled to see over 100 parents attend!
Is it possible to learn the Alberta curriculum while painting a car wash? Yes! Working on their learning contract Mural Mayhem, Year 6/7 students are creating socially-conscious murals on the abandoned Penguin Carwash in Ramsay. The creation of the murals include lessons on scale and budgeting, among many other components of the Alberta Math curriculum. Combined with movement pieces the students created, their completed project will soon be presented to parents.
