TEMPORARY GYM CLOSURE: November 17 -27, 2020 Please be advised that late November 16, 2020 the Calgary Gymnastics Centre received updated information from the Alberta Gymnastics Federation regarding an amendment to the targeted public health measures announced by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services on November 12, 2020. Effective November 17, 2020, all clubs in the enhanced measures areas (Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Red ...Deer), which includes the Calgary Gymnastics Centre, are required to close from November 17 - 27, 2020. The intent of these amended measures is to support Alberta Health Services by limiting people coming together in any type of group setting and to assist in their efforts in contact tracing. The safety of our membership is always our top priority and we are fully committed to following all of the information provided by the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Gymnastics Federation. We will continue to follow their guidance on how we can safely move forward and reopen our facilities once again. Leadership Thoughts - Our Purpose: Positive Impact for Life! Our Mission Foster healthy minds, healthy bodies and healthy journeys in pursuit of excellence... Every Decision we make has an impact, and every Choice we make has an outcome. Our every word and action caries the weight of those that look up to us, those that trust us and simply those that are part of our lives. We believe in creating a culture that should hold merit in every aspect of life’s successes. That every journey taken by every individual has value and meaning. To coach is to lead and to lead is to inspire those around to us to fulfill their potential, whatever that may be. To be excellent in the eyes of those around us. But excellence is not determined by a rank or placing, but rather the behavior or attitude in the pursuit of perfection. It is the culmination of one’s self drive, determination, and the desire to be the best. It is the aspiration to surpass a standard set inside and out. Being a leader is a tough job. You are sometimes in the spot light and can be critiqued or criticized at every turn. Your actions carry more weight than you know and the standard at which you present yourself must remain high. But despite those notions, being a leader can be and is one of the most rewarding and meaningful undertakings in life. I have always thought that learning a new skill is great, but learning a new trait or characteristic about yourself is more rewarding. A coach’s true joy is not when that skill is completed but when the athlete realizes for themselves that they can do it! That they have the ability to be great, to conquer their fears and move forward with confidence. Scott Rayment Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Program Director To be a great gymnast is first to become a great person.

Everyone is going through their ups and downs with this pandemic and I think being able to share this positivity and try and boost other people up through this time is very important. It’s not just about one person being positive, together we are all stronger and if you can make a difference for someone else, help them to feel better, I think it’s just a great thing.

Leadership Thoughts Gymnastics continues to evolve and develop in many positive and progressive approaches. The teachings of the past are advancing with scientific studies and research. Never before have we had so much information at our fingertips, to help the positive advancement of healthy athletes, mind body and soul. It is an exciting time to be a part of our awesome sport. Gymnastics at a competitive level requires high amounts of focus, discipline, and commitment.... It teaches our athletes core qualities that are necessary for reaching success in all facets of life. When an athlete’s gymnastics career is over, they will always have learned these characteristics that will help them to be good members of society. The true rewards of coaching don’t come from the moments on the podium. They come when the relationships formed through the hours of work together, continue to last long after the girls move on from the gym. When the successes they had through their time in the sport, carry them on into successes in college and their chosen careers. The ultimate success in the end, is that we are developing good people because good people make good gymnasts! Janna Ball Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Program Director
