Class of 2020 - you’re up on the wall in the place of honour beside the office!
Kayla Dykstra graduated from CCS in 2005. A big part of her high school experience was playing basketball. "I really enjoyed the team aspect of high school sports and getting to work towards a common goal," Kayla says. "My favourite memories of CCS basketball are tournaments and the not-so-serious times in practices." :) After playing at CCS, Kayla went on to the University of Victoria where she played for the Vikes women’s basketball team. "I was blessed to have good coachi...ng and fit into a team where I was able to excel and continue to develop as a basketball player and as a person," Kayla says. Besides playing basketball, Kayla completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the U of Vic, before continuing on to veterinary school. Here's the really exciting part: Kayla was recently named one of the top 100 female players in the last 100 years of CIS basketball! WOW! CONGRATULATIONS, Kayla! https://usports.ca//u-sports-to-unveil-top-100-women-s-bas You can find Kayla's name in the 2011-2020 category. When asked if she still plays basketball, Kayla said, "three knee surgeries later I no longer play competitively but have coached several middle school and high school teams since leaving the university of Victoria." What a fabulous way to give back and stay connected to the sport she loves! We are honoured to have been part of Kayla's basketball career. Cougar pride! #CCSathletics See more
Alumni Highlight: Stephanie Jager (Class of 2003): After graduating from CCS, Stephanie took one year off, then spent a year at Trinity Western. At the same time, she was dabbling in photography and decided to apply for Alberta University of the Arts instead. In 2010, she graduated from AUArts with a Bachelor of Design with a Major in Photography. Since then, she has done 3 years of Sandler Sales training to learn how to be a better business woman. She now owns and operat...Continue reading
Isabella Stefek is second generation CCS alumni - her mom Julie graduated from Calgary Christian in 1992. Isabella was one of the resilient Class of 2020 grads who made it through the last few months of grade 12 while the world turned upside down. And, it sounds like she's handling the continued curve-balls just as well! "Over the summer I went to Griffith woods almost everyday to swim with friends and walk my dog as well as went to the acreage with my family every weekend. Initially my plans were to go to Dalhousie University this fall but I ended up deferring until 2021 as all of the classes were online," Isabella says. She's currently working at Old Navy, something she really enjoys, but she adds, "I miss the time at school when I was able to spend everyday with my friends." Wishing you all the best, Isabella! Keep in touch.
Unfortunately (but not surprisingly), we are unable to host an Alumni Tournament this year.
