Dear all, We’re not where we had hoped we would be at this point in the decline of the COVID pandemic and the hope of vaccines. With current local restrictions in Canada not allowing large indoor gathering of any type and no projected signs of them being lifted before the event; the Canada-US boarder remaining closed to all non-essential travel and increased infection numbers on both sides of the boarder and throughout many parts of the world with the new strain, we need to c...ancel the Calgary Dance Stampede for 2021 and start planning 2022. It is with a very heavy heart that we must make this realization and announcement knowing the impact it will have on all of us as dancers and our community but the health and safety of all our attendees, staff, professionals, hotel staff and dancers remains our top priority. Please put the Calgary Dance Stampede 2022 into your calendars and plan on being apart of the revival celebration! April 7-10, 2022 Again we truly appreciate all the messages of support and love. She will be missed ...

We had hoped that the COVID pandemic would have released its grip on us by this time, but that is not yet the case. We all need to stay diligent for a few more... months before we can return to the dance floor safely. The UCWDC Executive Committee met recently to discuss the viability of virtual dance events as a way to give our dancers an avenue to keep dancing. The Executive Committee agreed that if Directors cannot host a live event, then we encourage all Directors to consider the option of running a virtual event. Virtual events are run as non-sanctioned events, therefore will not count as toward Worlds Qualifications or Graduation points. Sanctioning will be discussed in full Council at the spring meeting in February. The UCWDC encourages all Directors to look at new and innovative ways to keep people dancing in their local area. We hope that virtual events will be one more opportunity to participate in our dance community until we can all safely be together again. Be well, stay safe~ Keith Armbruster UCWDC President
