You’re going to have so much fun at Calgary Food Fest tomorrow! But did you know that Food Fest is more than just having a great time? Your support will have a lasting impact on the lives of at-risk women and children, right here in your own city. A portion of the proceeds are going to Sonshine Community Services. Sonshine Community Services is a charitable organization bringing hope and healing to families in need for 40 years. Motivated by our Christian faith, our miss...ion is to help women and children transform their lives. Our vision is a community where women and children live safely in healthy families. The Sonshine Centre is a one year residential shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence and abuse. It is dedicated to protecting and empowering families marked by domestic violence. The Children’s Centre started its programming in 2015 with the goal of providing an enriched care environment that is able to meet the unique needs of children who have been exposed to family violence or have experienced trauma. The excellence of our program has been recognized by the Government of Alberta, Human Services, who awarded the Children’s Centre the Child Development Professional Award of Excellence in 2016. Community Counselling provides counselling to individuals, couples and families adding a prevention component to Sonshine’s service delivery model.
