Calgary's Cottage Gardener

Winter arrived for good this past weekend! Time to switch our minds to the season ahead and how we wish to celebrate it! 2 Gals in a Garden (Kath Smyth and I) are working with the super folks at the Strathcona Aspen Christie Community Association to host a workshop on Saturday December 5th from 1:30-3:30pm to make magnificent outdoor seasonal greens arrangements. We will be in the Main Hall so lots of space for us all be social distancing. For further safety we will have kit...s of supplies laid out on your table ahead of time so that you will not need to leave your table and mingle. Plus we will all need to be wearing our lovely masks throughout. Perhaps we can have a contest for the best holiday themed mask! You will need to bring your own hand sanitizer, pruning shears and enthusiasm! Hi everyone! I am doing one of my favourite workshops at this time of year with the Calgary Horticultural Society...making Edible Gifts for Season! On Thursday, November 19th we will be having some fun making not a few of the many different edible gifts we can create from found and bought ingredients. Think pickles, jams, butters, salts and sugars, herb mixes and rubs, vinegars and oils and more..... I always think that a gift made by the giver is special and nevermore so wh...en it is edible!
