Iris Apfel, now at the prime age of 99, is still as fashionable as ever! "My philosophy is to live in the now yesterday is gone, you don’t know if there’s even going to be a tomorrow, so you might as well enjoy today. As my husband used to say, you should really live every day as if it were your last, because one day you’ll be right." https://www.harpersbazaar.com//iris-apfel-life-is-very-gr/

Is it just us, or is becoming an intergenerational pen pal the latest trend? In Edmonton, these Grade 3 students call themselves the COVID Care Bears. If you want to be part of an intergenerational pen pal program, register through our link https://www.calgaryseniors.org/volunteer-opportunities https://globalnews.ca//grade-3-students-pen-pals-edmonton/

2021 Resolutions: We asked our senior clients, and they answered.
Happy New Year!! What are your new years resolutions for 2021?
The days where we would thank our frontline workers with a smile or a free coffee have dwindled down... And we want to bring that kindness back to the forefront! It's understandable that we are all feeling drained, fatigued, and frustrated with the ongoing battle that we are all facing. However, we must remember that we are stronger together. A little kindness goes a long way... ask your cashier how their day was. Thank your nurses and doctors. Wave at your postal worker. Smile at your neighbour. Do your part and wear a mask to protect others. We look forward to the day where we can see this as a distant memory, and be proud of the communal effort we all put forth! With that being said, thank-you to all our frontline workers for all that you do. #feelgoodfriday #yyc #frontlineworkers

Happy New Years Eve! We hope to look back at this year and remember the good that came out of it. It was a struggle for many, but we saw an outpour of generosity that we wanted to highlight before this year comes to an end!
We are excited to launch the new Holiday Helpers program! This program will bring happiness, connection, and holiday spirit to our seniors to prevent further isolation around the holidays. Volunteers will help with one time or short term tasks for holidays all year long such as helping seniors decorate, take them shopping to buy presents and help with wrapping, etc. This program will make a huge difference in the lives of our seniors throughout the holidays. If you are in...terested in becoming a Holiday Helper Volunteer, click on the link below to apply: http://ow.ly/Ugmn50CoHjZ

"You guys are my saviors, without the help of the volunteers to get to my appointments I would be a complete wreck I’m afraid. I count my blessings that I found your organization." - Louise, 91 Louise is one of many clients that are in need of volunteer drivers to take her to her medical appointments. If you have a vehicle and are available to drive seniors to their essential medical appointments, please consider signing up to volunteer! http://ow.ly/qRtI50CjdOx
