What goes wrong when an electric cooktop coil stays on that high temperature is that the flow of electricity isn’t getting cycled properly. When this happens, it is usually because the infinite switch, the part that controls the flow of electricity to the the element, is malfunctioning. The infinite switch on your electric cooktop is actually the shaft that the control knobs are attached to.

Tip of the Day! In electric dryers, heat is generated by the heating element. The element is a coil of heating wire enclosed in a metal chamber. Electric current flowing through the coil creates heat and the air being pulled through the chamber absorbs this heat. If the element is defective, then it will not heat. How to test a dryer’s heating element with a multi-meter:... Disconnect your dryer from the power source and locate the heating element. Depending on your model, you may need to open your dryer’s cabinet to access the heating element. Remove the heating element from the dryer and visually inspect it for signs of damage or burning. Set your multi-meter to the Rx1 setting and touch the probes to element terminals to test for continuity. If you receive a reading of infinity, you need a replacement heating element. Don't forget to check the thermostats and thermal fuse, if there is no continuity, replace the part. Don't forget to always check your dryer venting, it can be a cause of the thermostat tripping to protect the element.

Rust on the tines of your dishwasher racks can adhere to and ruin your dishes and silverware. To solve this issue, purchase a tine repair kit, and use a sealant to adhere the replacement tips over any rusty or chipped tines. Let dry for at least 24 hours before running the dishwasher.
