Studies have shown that product buildup, environmental air junk (yes junk is mentioned in accredited scientific journals) and your natural oils can cause breakage and lead to follicular blockage, hair loss folliculitis or worse baldness (Ladies if you thought baldness was only what men experienced, think again, women on average report experiencing more hair loss/thinning h...air than men. . . 2. Use Less Shampoo. Heres what we mean when we say use less; its all about completely wetting your hair before you even reach for your shampoo bottle. Put two quarter size dollops of shampoo on your hands and strategically place the shampoo on the dirtiest parts of your hair If you touch your hair as often as I do youll know where. . . 3. Stop Using Your Finger Nails. Use the tips of your fingers to massage shampoo onto your hair. Dont go scratching your scalp with your finger nails, it irritates both your scalp and the root of your hair. M A I N T E N A N C E - 7 WAYS TO MAINTAIN YOUR COLOR DURING COVID 1. USE SULFATE-FREE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER - using hair products that contain sulphate you run the risk of stripping your color and your hairs natural oils and moisture. Who wants dull hair?! . .... 2. BLONDES USE PURPLE SHAMPOO- purple shampoo is everyones best friend when it comes to evening out those gold/orange tones. Even for men or women who dont have color treated hair, purple shampoo can enhance your natural hair by creating an even color tone throughout your hair. If youre rocking your grey hair purple shampoo can cut that yellowish tone, creating the perfect white/grey tone. Think Jane Fonda 2020. . . 3. TURN DOWN THE NOZZEL- Hot water isnt the best for your hair. When hot water hits your hair, it opens the hair cuticle allowing your color to wash out. Red hair is the hardest color to maintain because the red color molecule is larger so it has a harder time absorbing and staying on your hair; so if you open that hair cuticle you run the risk of rinsing out the red. If you wash your hair with Luke warm water or if you can brave it, rinse in cold water you not only keep your color looking fresh you also reduce the amount of frizz and drying time. A closed cuticle allows water droplets to drip right off. . . 4. WASH YOUR HAIR 2X A WEEK- washing your hair twice a week is the sweet spot. Washing your hair once a week causes a lot of dirt build-up, and for anyone with sensitive skin it can cause acne. Think about all the times you touch your hair and then touch your face and how often your washing your pillows; that dirt mixed in with your face and hairs natural oils is now sinking into your pores so twice a week give your hair a rinse and watch the difference it makes on your face. . . 5. USE DRY SHAMPOO ON YOUR OFF DAYS- use color safe or colored dry shampoos. We personally love AGs dry shampoo in dark brown and blonde to keep our hair from having that dusty white residue. Nothing beats the smell of clean hair. . . 6. USE LEAVE-IN TREATMENTS TO PROTECT YOUR HAIR COLOR WHEN STYLING - Our personal favourites are Paishaus leave in and Olaplex #6 and #7.
