Parable Study - This series of lectures and discussions online began last Sunday night at 7 pm by Rev. Pirie Mitchell. He is the Interim Minister at Wesley-Knox United Church. My Sisters’ Place - If you have not already received your tax receipt in regards to your donation to My Sisters’ Place, the receipt is from the Canadian Mental Health Association. On January 6th, cheques totalling $4,022 will be dropped off at My Sisters' Place on Dundas St. E.. This money will help support the needs of vulnerable women in London with services such as meal programme and support those facing violence and mental and physical health challenges. Cheques dated December 31st, 2020 can be used for the 2020 tax season and receipts will be issued by My Sisters' Place. Mitten Tree - Thank you to all those who donated hats, mittens, scarves and socks to the London Community Chaplaincy. They were all taken to the Chaplaincy before Christmas so that they could be distributed to the families at Southdale and Limberlost before the lockdown. Zoom Hosting - Thank you to Bill, Ken, Ruthanne, and Heather who have volunteered to be Sunday morning Zoom worship hosts. Vince conducted a very detailed training session for this group and they have already started to take turns for hosting duties. Thank you to Vince for all of his efforts. Stay safe and healthy! There is a light at the end of the COVID tunnel once the vaccine is more widely distributed and our numbers go down.

Dear Friends of Calvary, Firstly, I want to welcome Rev. Susan Cameron to Calvary as our Supply Minister of Worship and Pastoral Care. Rev. Susan Cameron comes to us from St. Paul's United in Petrolia. Over her 36 years of ministry, she has served in several pastoral charges, was President of London Conference, was on the Board of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and has worked with overseas personnel to list some of her accomplishments. She started this Monday and will be availa...ble for those in need. Zoom Gatherings this week (using our usual Zoom link) Sunday Worship 10:30 am - recorded version will be available on Facebook Broadview Magazine - The Broadview Magazine subscriptions are due November 25th for those wishing to participate. The cost remains $25. Cheques are payable to Calvary United Church with Broadview written on the envelope or the cheque memo line and can be dropped off or mailed to the church. The Mitten Tree - We plan to have a Mitten Tree again this year. There is a box marked Mitten Tree in the back entry way for mittens, hats, scarves and socks. The small Christmas tree is going to be set up in the Chapel and decorated with these items. As in other years, all items will be delivered to the London Community Chaplaincy in January for the distribution to the folks at Southdale and Limberlost. Please drop them off when you come on Wednesday mornings for bazaar items. United Church Women - Thank you women of Calvary for your generous response so far to the Stewardship Letter. Donations received as of mid-November are $3,540 and will help many charities in need of our support. Your donations to the service component of our roles as Women of Calvary United Church will be thankfully accepted for this purpose until the end of December. From the UCW Executive, Ruthanne McLagan, Kristen Goodman, Pam Harrison, Mary Margaret Farrow Bazaar News - Lots of excitement this week! We are pleased to inform you that every effort will be made to make tourtieres this year. We are taking orders and they will be available for pickup on Wednesday, December 2nd in the morning. The pies are $18.00 each. There will be a limited number available. I was thrilled to hear from Ruthanne McLagan this week and she is donating some of her art work. These will be on display in our "store" starting tomorrow and vary in price and size. You really have to see them!! Thanks again to all our bakers and cooks and yes, shoppers.
