Calvary Baptist Church FSJ 29.03.2021

In light of a significant outbreak of COVID cases in the province over the weekend, Dr. Bonnie Henry has today (Monday, March 29) reversed the decision to allow in person services over the next 6 weeks. It was exciting to think things were getting a bit better, but now, with even more contagious variants hitting us, we have to be even more vigilant. We will be able to come together again at some point, but just not right now. So please take care, do what you need to stay healthy and remember that God does know what He’s doing! - Pastor Michael Hayes ***If you have further questions please contact the Church Office; Phone: 250-785-4307 Email: [email protected]

Our Church family member Will Paynter shared this & it felt appropriate to share with all of you given the circumstances.

FAITH: The Second Sunday of Advent The anchor is a very early Christian symbol for Faith. It is that thing that holds one steady, not only in the storms but also in the continual drift of life around us. Faith, like an anchor, keeps us attached to life in and with Christ. The colours surrounding the anchor are the colours of the sea. In the ancient world, the sea was feared and seen as a source of chaos that could destroy life. The anchor is a guard against the de...structive forces of the sea just as our faith holds us firm in the turmoil of life. Applicable Verses; Romans 5: 1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Ephesians 2: 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godnot by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 3: 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Hebrews 11: 1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. ***Each of our Advent Banners is hand-made by Illene Hayes!

IMPORTANT UPDATE Due to new provincial regulations, there will be no in-person church Worship Service until further notice (unfortunately not even for those who did RSVP in advance). A live-stream of our Worship Service will be streamed & available on our website ( cbchurchfsj.ca ) and Facebook ( facebook@CalvaryBaptistFSJ ).... The service is scheduled to go live at 10:30 am Sunday; this is expected to be the format until provincial regulations change again. The office will remain open according to its regular hours: Tuesday, 9:00 am to noon; Wednesday to Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Please call (250-785-4307) if you have any prayer requests or needs. Daily Bread is available in the office, offerings/tithes can be delivered to the church office mailbox (if cash, please make sure someone from the office receives it). This is another hard time no one wanted. God is still by our side, always! Please continue to pray for and try to stay connected. We appreciate your continued cooperation, support, & understanding.

In the spirit of spreading some joy, and staying connected Jill has shared this with us! A few years ago, I discovered an artist in the Yukon named Nathalie Parenteau. I bought some of her nativity scenes and here are two of them. The first is called A Little Bit North of Bethlehem and shows Mary on an elk, I think. The second is called Northern Nativity. The photos do not do them justice, but I thought I'd share them anyway! Blessings! - Jill Janzen... We’d love to hear from more of you! Send us pictures or short videos of your Holiday Decor, festive activities , or family portraits , to help us feel connected even in Social Isolation!
