This Sunday at Calvary September 13th, 2020 Back to the Basics: The Good News - Pastor Ruth Bartlett... Over the next while, were going back to the basics. Back to the basics of what it means to be followers of Christ, and back to the basics of what it means to be Gods church. Whether weve been going to church all our lives, or weve only just begun to grasp who God is, its important to keep fresh in our minds why we gather as Gods people each week, and why we do what we do as Christians. This week, were going back to the basics of the Gospel, that Good News of who God is and what He has done for us.

Another Form of Justice - Shelley Faulkner Last Sunday, Howard Moriah shared his Cry of Justice, with a focus on social justice and distributive justice. This week, I will be speaking about another form of justice, reciprocal justice. In preparation for Sunday, please read through Romans chapter 12. I will be focusing on verses 14 to 21. These verses reveal the surprising path forward to a life of peace.

A Cry for Justice - Howard Moriah As Christ followers with a renewed mind and heart, we should be inspired to do the work of God. That work calls us to; seek good, not evil, love goodness, and establish justice. The greatest offering we can make is; letting justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. But we must have a God-Listening Heart to do justice. Without it we merely speak of justice.

Arguing Our Way into Love - Rev. Rex Deverell In bringing about Gods kingdom, Jesus connects us to our Heavenly Father and to one another in a fellowship of love. He uses parables and examples and sometimes, as in this passage, an argument. This Sunday well finish our parable series and talk about a unique encounter between Jesus and a Canaanite woman.

26 July 2020 It is late July, and weve got weeds! - Shelley Faulkner This Sunday is the second in a series of reflections on the parables of Jesus, particularly the parables found in Matthew chapter 13. This week we will be looking at The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds. We will reflect together on the central passage in the parable, the instruction of Jesus to Let both (the wheat and the weeds) grow together until the harvest (Matthew 13:30). We have been weeding people out since the foundation of the world (Matthew 13:35), but Jesus comes to tell us that we need to stop our weeding and learn to grow together. What are the implications of this concept in our world today?

19 July 2020 Changing the world, one story at a time This Sunday will launch a series of sermons focusing on stories told by Jesus. Well hear again the parable of the farmer who plants seed a variety of ground with a questionable success rate. How do we take this story?... How do we take it in? How fertile is our farm land? Will we allow Jesus to speak to us as if for the very first time? Hope so, - Rex Deverell See more

12 July 2020 Leaving the Wilderness and Seizing the Promise - Andrea Cambridge This week, during our worship time, we will be camped with the People of Israel, just outside the land that God has promised they would inhabit. They could see the rich fields of grain and the fabulous walled city of Jericho, just across the Jordan River -- and they were waiting for instruction to move forward into Gods promise with their new leader, Joshua. On Sunday morning we will explore what can we learn from this exciting passage of Scripture about leaving the wilderness and moving into Gods promises.

Remembering in the Wilderness - Ruth Bartlett (Communion Sunday) Psalm 121:1-2 "I lift my eyes up to the mountains -... where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." The truth of this is unfathomable, unforgettable, and utterly amazing. Yet so often, we forget the simple truth that God loves us and He is for us. We forget who He is and what He has done. Were not the only ones to forget such an unforgettable truth, the Israelites so often forgot God in the midst of their wilderness lives. Yet God called them to himself time and again. He called them to remember this simple truth: "You yourselves have seen what I did in Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles wings and brought you to myself." which is followed by his reminder to them that he has set them apart: "Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." This Sunday, we are going to look at the reminders that God gave the Israelites, as a commandment to remember. He wanted the Israelites to remember who He is and what He has done, He wanted them to remember to rest, and He wanted them to remember that He set them apart as His own.
