This Sunday, we continue our series "Greater Things" based on the mission, ministry, and miracles of Jesus from the Gospel of Luke. We will be looking at Jesus' first miracle in Luke's Gospel: driving out an evil spirit from a man in the synagogue at Capernaum. We will reflect on how evil is at work in the world today, to what extent such miracles are possible or even evident today, and how we carry on Jesus' mission of bringing "freedom to the prisoners". This morning we start a new sermon series from the Gospel of Luke entitled "Greater Things". We will be looking at the works of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit in the Gospel of Luke and connecting that with the Spirit's work in the church. This is all based around Jesus' words from John 14:12 when he says "whoever believes in me will do the works that I am doing, even greater things ..." This message is based on Luke 4:14-21, where Jesus sets the tone for his mission and ministry in the Gospel of Luke - the same tone, mission, and ministry he has for us!
