Take a look at this amazing series of events curated by the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. Great to see a powerhouse panel on defunding the police, in partnership with the Ontario Federation of Labour! This is the kind of tangible leadership we need to see from the labour movement, moving us beyond EDI to visionary models of racial justice.

The Vancouver School Board meets today at 5 pm. There's still a a little bit of time to send an email demanding the end of the SLO program (Cops in School). The safety of Black and Indigenous youth in particular is at stake. Cambium is in unequivocal support of abolishing all police in school programs. Racial justice is a daily practice and a lifetime commitment. #CopsOutOfSchools

Thanks so much to Simran Singh and The Daily Hive for chatting with us about Diwali/Deepavali and Bandi Chhor Divas at Carnegie. What a lovely write up celebrating the collective community spirit that made this all happen!

Amidst a very busy year doing deeply transformative, long term racial justice & anti-oppression work with various clients, Cambium Arts & Education recently took some time to curate Diwali & Bandi Chhor Divas Carnegie Community Centre, working with some wonderful staff. . Yesterday, the outreach team distributed mithai & chai through the community. The mithai was made fresh and each of the 250 pieces were individually wrapped by a local South Asian woman caterer with a smal...l business. . Today, Carnegie’s first ever Diwali lunch will be served to go, from the patio windows. Free! Made by staff Chef Andeeleep. Till November 16, you can walk by from the outside to see Sandeep Johal’s beautiful mandalas on the windows & hand crafted Diwali lanterns by Cambium. . Every Diwali night, diyas will be laid out with (battery) tea lights for people in the community to enjoy & take as they wish. . So grateful to continue the collaboration we started with Carnegie as last year’s artists in residence. The DTES community continues to teach us so much. This is one small way to give back. . Please share the menu! #dtes #diwali #festival #art #communityengagedart
