News alert! CECRA, the rent relief program, has been extended until the end of September. This is good news for participating businesses, as is the continued in...dication from Minister Freeland that she is aware of ongoing problems with the program. We remain hopeful CECRA will be fixed to help the many small businesses that have fallen through its cracks and we persistently push for key improvements like landlord-independent relief. Then, as of September 27th, almost all CERB claimants w...ho qualify for EI will be transitioned to that program. It will be mostly automatic. EI is getting a 'facelift'. Canadians with 120 insurable hours in the last 52 weeks (across Canada) can apply and receive a minimum payment of $400/week and a maximum of $573/week, depending on past earnings. The benefit is meant specifically for people whose income has dropped or not returned due to COVID-19. 2.
