Over the past few months, we have all had to face many challenges as a result of the ongoing global crisis. Thank you for your continued understanding of the changes to our services and safety protocols. We truly appreciate the outpouring of encouragement and kind words. Unfortunately, we have also experienced an increase in unfair treatment towards members of our team. To ensure that our hospital remains a safe place for us all, we will not tolerate any kind of disrespectful conduct towards clients and team members. We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all. With your help, we can ensure that negativity has no place in our corner of the veterinary world. #cambriananimalhospital #weareallinthistogether #respectforall

Cambrian Animal Hospital will be entering into a "closed waiting room" policy, effective on December 26, 2020 as per the Ontario government mandate. At this point, the government is requiring us to do so until January 11, 2021. This means that pets will be allowed to enter the hospital but owners will not (they will need to wait in their cars during the exam). The veterinarian will contact the owner via telephone call to discuss the patient. We will continue to offer all o...f our regular services. Curbside pickup will be available for medication refills and food pick up. You can also order online and have food delivered directly to your door using our online vet store. Please be patient with our staff during this time. The "closed waiting room" mandate will require more time to process each appointment. Our staff will be working hard to keep the flow moving smoothly. If you have questions, feel free to comment or call us at 705-566-4085. Thank you for your understanding.
It was Arya’s birthday (Dr. Sarah’s dog) yesterday so we had a little celebration for her. We had to share these pictures of her cute self. Happy birthday Arya! #cambriananimalhospital #Aryabirthdaypics

It’s Havoc and Shanon’s Adopt-a-versary today! It’s hard to believe she adopted him only 2 years ago. He feels like he has always been a part of the Cambrian family. He keeps us laughing and he is very patient with all the modeling we make him do. Please help wish this great pair a Happy Gotcha Day! #cambriananimalhospital #perfectpairperfectbond #happygotchaday
We all agree the temperature outside is pretty cold, but ticks are still around! Keisha came into today with creepy crawly under her ear. Keep your pets protected! #cambriananimalhospital #ticksaregross #ticks2020

For your Friday funny... #dogselfimprovement #cambriananimalhospital
Sometimes we see a pet who is just so happy, so funny and excited about everything that our whole day is brighter. Marley was that dog today. She was here to be spayed and her tail wag and ear to ear grin never went away. Thanks for making us smile today Marley! (FYI - we had to take the picture while she was in the kennel because she kept licking the camera - tee hee). #cambriananimalhospital #sillyAussiedoodle #grinningpuppy
All dogs are considered seniors by the age of 7 (tgiant breeds are seniors earlier than that) but that doesn’t mean they should become couch potatoes. It’s important to keep your senior dog active (even if it has to be a little bit less activity than when they were younger or if you have to modify the activity). Mental stimulation is important too. The saying old dogs can’t learn new tricks is not true! This is Lottie and she is the queen of learning and doing tricks. Her owner keeps her physically active and keeps her mind active by teaching her new things. #celebrateseniors #oldisgold #cambriananimalhospital
We’re so proud of our patient, Caesar - he donated his blood last week at Espanola Animal Hospital. Thank you for providing this life saving service! You’re a hero! #cambriananimalhospital #dogblooddonor #caninehero
This is a great video to help understand why our hospital has been so busy. Please know that we are doing our best and have to meet the needs of many, many of our patients and clients.
On this day of rememberance, we are grateful to all current and former members of the military. Thank you for your service.
A client submitted this adorable picture of her cats having a cuddle. Fishy (kitten) and Mater (adult cat) are best friends and like to show it. We love to see pet besties in photos - if you have a picture of your pet with his/her bestie, share it with us!
For your Friday funny...
The cooler weather is arriving but we wanted to remind you that those pesky parasites that we hate (fleas & ticks) are still here! Havoc may look like a goof ball in this photo, getting fleas or ticks is NO laughing matter. Keep your pet protected!
This video shows how obesity can affect how much a dog can engage in the world and also that weight loss is possible with a bit of hard work and time! Call us at 705-566-4085 to book your nutritional consult .
We want to share an important safety message. One of our patients ingested this peach pit after his owner enjoyed the tasty fruit. Please be aware of pit fruits and the dangers they can pose to your pets. The pits smell good to dogs because they smell like fruit but the pits are not digestible and can easily obstruct the intestinal tract. The only treatment is surgical removal of the pit. Corn cobs are a similar danger. Please dispose of your pits and cobs in a pet proof container!
Aya came in for her puppy vaccines and her personality matched her adorable face so we had to post. Do you know what breed Aya is?
The cooler weather has arrived and we are starting to see some fall outfits on our patients. These outfits were too cute not to share... Share your pet’s fall fashions with us!
This image shows an unfortunately too common occurrence that we see on a daily basis. The orange outline shows what the dog's body shape SHOULD be to be at a good healthy body weight. There are more pets who are overweight than pets in good body condition (by a large margin). There are multiple factors causing the incidence of overweight pets but one of the biggest contributing factors to this issue is the guidelines on pet food bags. These guidelines generally recommend WAY too many calories for an average pet dog or cat. We recommend to talk to our staff if you have questions about your pet's daily caloric intake, exercise routine or diet recommendation. Call us today at 705-566-4085!
The hospital will be closed on Monday, September 7 for the Labour Day holiday. If you have an emergency, please contact the Sudbury Veterinary Association’s paging service at 705-671-3949. Wishing all of our patients and clients a safe, happy and enjoyable last long weekend of the summer!
August and September are usually the months we see these critters. They are fly larvae that can infect dogs and cats. The fly lays the eggs around the entrance to rodent burrows. The eggs are then inhaled or swallowed by an animal. The eggs hatch inside the animal and the larva burrow through muscle and tissue to form a perfectly round breathing hole (sometimes you can see the larva pop it’s head to the top of the hole). If left without treatment, the larva develops to adult size and wiggle out in a cocoon which hatches into an adult fly. The process takes about one month and can cause infection and irritation at the site. The treatment consists of removing the larva and start antibiotic therapy.
Sarah, our animal care aid, is off to start her training to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Although we are sad to see her go, we are so proud and excited for this next chapter in her life. She is going to be an amazing addition to the veterinary community! We removed our COVID masks to take her farewell photo and Shawny (Golden Retriever) and Havoc (Malinois) had to say their goodbyes too. Help us wish her well in her new adventure!
**OWNER FOUND** Help us get this pretty girl back home! She was running loose in front of our clinic this afternoon and we were able to catch her. Do you recognize her?? **UPDATE** - This sweet girl's owner has been found and she is back with her relieved family again! Thanks to all who shared this post - her rapid return home is due to the positive power of social media!
It’s International Dog Day today! It’s a day to celebrate our canine companions and all the good things they bring to our lives! Send us a picture of your special dog!
Lily was spayed today and we fell in love with her unique face and sweet personality. Thanks for being a darling Lily!
Dr. Sarah will be away on vacation until August 31 because she got married! Congratulations Dr. Mrs. Sarah (or is it Mrs. Dr. Sarah?) and her husband Josh! Help us wish all the best to the newlyweds!
Puppies and kittens are not just small versions of adult dogs and cats! Just as with human babies, immature pets have specific nutritional needs that adult food cannot achieve. Young pets need specific requirements for proper bone and muscle development (which varies depending on the size of your pet), as well as brain and gastrointestinal health. To meet the balanced nutritional demands that growing puppies and kittens need, you should talk to us about recommendations specific to your growing four-legged family member. Call us at 705-566-4085 - we here to answer your nutrition questions!
We fell in love with this sweet French Bulldog today. Blue is adorable with her pink bow and loving personality. She was a real doll for her check up today!
The hospital will be closed on Monday, August 3 for the Civic Holiday. If you have a pet emergency, please contact the Sudbury Veterinary Association’s paging service at 705-671-3949. Have a safe and fun long weekend!
It’s Shanon’s birthday so we had a little celebration at work today! Help us wish her a happy birthday!
The answer to the post we shared yesterday: her name is Cheetoh! Very cute name for a very cute orange kitten!
