Great news that Waterloo Region will be receiving the lions share of funding to fight Human Trafficking in our Region. Thank you Doug Ford! https://toronto.ctvnews.ca//we-re-coming-after-you-ontario
Waterloo needs to step up here. Cambridge is also losing green space at their location, but it's still a go. Waterloo needs to stop relying on the rest of the region to accommodate their homeless population. No emergency shelter and only a few SHOW spots filled every year. https://www.cbc.ca//affordable-alternative-housing-project
Waterloo needs to step up here. The Cambridge site is taking away green space as well, but it is still going ahead as planned. Waterloo is severely lacking at helping their homeless population and leaning on the rest of the region. No homeless shelter and only filling a couple spots at SHOW every year. https://www.cbc.ca//affordable-alternative-housing-project
Excellent article. Carefully researched and well written. Among the quotes that struck a chord was this: In the name of compassion, public officials have created perverse incentives that are worsening homelessness, overdoses, and crime. I am convinced that while the harm reduction philosophy may be driven by good intentions, it has produced disastrous consequences for those it is intended to helpand for surrounding communities. Time to re-think this failed approach. https://www.city-journal.org/vancouver-harm-reduction
Good news: any Region of Waterloo residents experiencing Covid symptoms can now be tested. https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca//what-expanded-testing-means-
Keep it up Cambridge! https://www.cambridgetimes.ca//9967333-cambridge-second-/
Thank you for the breakdown by Municipality! https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/officials-report-22-more-cases
A huge thank you to everyone who is working with the public: doctors and nurses, care home workers, grocery store employees, and all others who take risks each day to provide us with services. You are heroes!A huge thank you to everyone who is working with the public: doctors and nurses, care home workers, grocery store employees, and all others who take risks each day to provide us with services. When will Waterloo Public Health expand Covid 19 testing? Right now, testing is very restricted. Yet see below for our neighbouring region’s strategy. https://wdgpublichealth.ca//covid-1/assessment-centres-wdg
Please join us in urging the Region of Waterloo to be fully transparent about how the Covid 19 crisis is impacting individual municipalities in our region. https://www.kitchenertoday.com//grassroots-group-calling-f
Letter sent to Premier Ford on behalf of Cambridge Safe and Strong in regards to the lack of reporting of covid-19 by city in our region. https://img1.wsimg.com//Letter%20to%20Premier%20Ford_April
Why does the region of Waterloo refuse to publish the numbers of Covid 19 cases by city? Other regions (Simcoe, Wellington, Peel, etc.) do so. Yet Cambridge residents can’t get that information? Why does the region of Waterloo refuse to publish the numbers of Covid 19 cases by city? Other regions (Simcoe, Wellington, Peel, etc.) do so. This is the Main Street raised flower bed and bench that is costing us all $70K. The number of benches seems a little excessive for that corner. Yet we remain one of the few cities in Canada that still uses open blue boxes and garbage containers, which accounts for a lot of the loose garbage flying around on our streets. Odd priorities at Council.
