Working on a relapse prevention plan is not just about alcohol or other substances. It’s growing in maturity to handle situations with rational thought and reasoning in order to avoid negative consequences because of negative behaviours.
It’s a great day to get outdoors! During the longer recovery process after rehabilitation is complete, regular exercise reduces the risk of relapse. The most popular forms are walking, running, yoga, sports, swimming, and strength training.

Take time to heal. People who struggle with addiction are functioning in survival mode. Did you know it takes two years for the brain to heal from most substances? When working on recovery in post acute withdrawal you may feel confused, fatigued, discontent. Take one day at a time.

Did you know that fear of failure and fear of success are barriers to overcome in making a decision to step towards recovery?
Grand-River Withdrawal Management is now open. For alcohol or substance use withdrawal assistance call 519-749-4318 or 519-749-4300 and ask the operator to connect you to withdrawal management. Make sure to ask about any new restrictions and remember the person in need of this service needs to call for an intake.
Finding just one thing a day to be grateful for, helps increase awareness and promotes positive change.
Do you keep asking yourself how much work goes into those meat pies and tarts? At least 5 volunteers and residents put up to 5 hours in the kitchen once a week. That’s 25 hours so you can enjoy fresh goods baked from scratch. We are also sharing life skills and promoting team work. Cleaning those trays are the least favourite things to do, but we get them done. Pictures are always shown with permission. See you Saturday morning at the market!
