Join us in a warm welcome to Dr April Hall. Some of you have already had the opportunity to meet Dr Hall as she has been filling in for Dr Farquhar's maternity leave since early winter. With the leave coming to an end, we are excited to announce that Dr Hall will continue to be a part of our Cambridge Eye Care Team. Dr. April Hall was born in Stephenville, NL and grew up in Cambridge, Ontario. She received her Bachelors of Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland an...d Labrador in 2016 and graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2020. She was named to the Dean’s Honours List each term and received the Lyle/Fisher/Bobier award for demonstrating academic excellence and engaging in summer research at the school of Optometry and Vision Science. One of the highlights of her time spent as a student was traveling to Senegal, Africa and Montego Bay, Jamaica to provide eye care to those in need. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and has a special interest in ocular disease, dry eye, and contact lenses. When she is outside of the clinic, Dr. Hall can be found hiking local trails with her fiancé, baking, golfing, and spending time with her family and friends! We are so lucky that this warm, caring, compassionate and skilled Doctor is able to join us!

Premier Ford, fix the eye care crisis in Ontario. A whole province's vision is in your hands. Eye care is an essential service that saves lives as well as vision. Ontario optometrist have been providing OHIP services at a loss since 1989. We can't afford it anymore. What can individuals do? Write your MPP, visit saveeyecare.ca for a template or better yet, write your own letter in your words. If you are in office, ask to sign the paper petition- these will be forwarded to o...ur MPP to be presented to the government too. We are so thankful for our wonderful patients! #saveeyecare #Cambridge #eye #care #optometrist #cambridgeontario #cambridgeoptometrist #cambridgeon #cbridge #galtcambridge Ontario Association of Optometrists FordNation Belinda Karahalios, MPP Amy Fee

Smile! Today is World Smile Day, so here are five reasons you should smile, even if you don't feel like it right now: smiles are contagious so if you smile, someone around you is more likely to smile too. Smiling may boost your mood and physical health. It makes you sound friendlier on a phone or Zoom call. And smiling can make people more likely to forgive you when you make a mistake. We promise we are all smiling behind our masks! #cambridge #eye #care #smile #cambridgeontario #cambridgeoptometrist #cambridgeon #cbridge #galtcambridge #shopcambridge

Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn We've made it to another COVID season. Thank-you to all our wonderful C.E.C. family for all your understanding and patience as we continue to work with the new protocols. Our awesome team members are working hard to get people in off the cancellation list as quick as we can, and we appreciate everyone letting us know as soon as possible if you can't make an appointment. We will continue to maintain a high level of caution to keep everyone safe as possible - and yes, we will be asking ALL the covid-19 screening questions everytime!

We want to thank all of our patients and community members who have gone online to saveeyecare.ca and signed their name to support optometrists across Ontario The current model of eye care in Ontario is unsustainable and has barely changed in 30 years! The situation wasn’t great before, but after necessary changes due to COVID 19, optometrists are struggling to meet all the challenges... some offices even face closure. Tough decisions are being made...It’s like the least-fun Sudoku puzzle At CEC, we’re joining the Ontario Association of Optometrists to encourage change If you’d like to show your support for your local optometrist, visit save eyecare.ca and add your name #saveeyecare #ontariooptometrists @ontariooptometrists

Things are looking a little different around here We are following directives from our governing body , plus a few extra measures to ensure the safety of our patients and staff! Appointment-only visits, screening at booking and at arrival, white glove (blue glove?) dispensing, sanitizing stations after each use, cleaning high-touch surfaces on a regular schedule... it’s all about providing the best care to the community #cambridge #optometrist #staysafecambridge #yourvisionisourfocus @ Cambridge Eye Care

We are asking our Cambridge Eye Care family for help. We are asking you to take action and use the link to send a letter to the government. https://saveeyecare.ca OHIP funded eye care in Ontario is at risk. For more than 30 years, governments have failed to invest in eye care. As a result, OHIP now only covers half the cost of an eye exam. Optometrists pay the rest out of their own pocket - $173 million every year. Before the pandemic, this situation was unfair and unsustain...able. But today, with optometry practices beginning the process of re-opening, many optometrists are facing a crisis. We are able to see about half the patients now due to COVID-19 physical distancing directives. This will wipe out nearly two million eye exams over the next 12 months. With statistics showing that 1 in 3 Ontarians will have some form of vision-threatening eye disease by the age of 65, finding a sustainable solution is ever more pressing. While you yourself may not require OHIP funded eye care, we are asking you to help protect the vision of your children so they can learn and meet their full potential, to help protect the vision of patients with underlying health conditions like diabetes, autoimmune conditions and even shingles, to help your parents and grandparents continue to see their grandchildren and decrease risk for falls so they can enjoy their golden years. Help us save eye care in Ontario. Visit SaveEyeCare.ca and tell the Ontario government to reform OHIP for a more sustainable eye care system. https://saveeyecare.ca Fill in your name, email address and if you'd like your riding and hit submit! Please feel free to share and spread the message too. Cambridge Eye Care
