What separates a Kenshi from a person fighting with sport's sticks is not the speed or strength but the techniques and the comprehension and application of the ...art itself. It may be fun to watch Kendoka hitting each other rapidly and continuously, but for the experienced eye is more satisfying to observe a match where the correct execution of the Waza and concepts (like Tenouchi, Seme, Tame, Chuushin, Kime, Zanshin...) are displayed. And is even more enjoyable to be able to spot and appreciate the more abstracts ideas and phrases been applied on a Keiko or Shiai (difficult stuff!). Is important to remember that language creates realities and words help us to grasp the meaning of almost everything such as Ki-Ken-Tai-No-Icchi, Mushin, Makura-No-Osae, etcetera.
