This is the enigmatic Antikythera mechanism. It was discovered in a shipwreck off the coast of Antikythera, a tiny Greek island north of Crete, in 1901. Long story short, it is a 2200 year old analog computer built to track the movements of celestial objects and the cycles of solar eclipses.
