A very on-theme pregnancy announcement! How did you announce your pregnancy?
Ok this is very relatable
Central Alberta Medical imaging Services (CAMIS) in Red Deer is excited to announce the expansion of our breast imaging department with screening breast ultrasound for women with dense breasts starting April 5th, 2021. Breast density can only be determined by mammography. Women with dense breasts have an increased risk of breast cancer and dense breasts can make it more difficult to find breast cancer on mammography. Screening breast ultrasound improves early cancer detection in women with dense breasts. Screening breast ultrasound cannot be self-referred the same way as screening mammography and can only be requested by your doctor after you have a mammogram. If your mammogram shows you have dense breast tissue talk to your doctor about supplemental screening breast ultrasound.
We know the past year has been hard on the children and youth in our community. Ways we provided support to our Central Alberta community in 2020 included a donation to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau Literacy Program resulting in approximately 3,000 books provided to children in the Central Alberta area. https://camiscare.ca//supporting-our-communitys-health-in/

An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart. It provides information about the heart’s structure and function, such as size, the appearance of the valves, and the thickness of the heart’s muscle. A physician is likely to request an echo test if you’ve had a heart attack (MI, myocardial infarct) or rheumatic fever, or if you have a heart murmur, congenital heart defect, or an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia or atrial fibrillation), or unexplained chest pain or shortness of breath. https://camiscare.ca/service/echocardiography/
The short, dark days of Winter are here, so it's even more important to make sure you are getting enough vitamin D. Why? While vitamin D is essential to absorb calcium for bone health, the sunshine vitamin's benefits extend well beyond your bones. ... Vitamin D is essential for the immune system and improves insulin sensitivity, mood, and muscular strength. It's also thought to help in reducing belly fat and protects against autoimmune diseases like type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. (Source: Appetite for Health)

"In Alberta, you can give a private MRI scan to someone for Christmas." With Christmas just around the corner, SecondStreet.org, a new Canadian think tank, released a report that examines which provinces allow Canadians to purchase a private MRI scan for themselves or for a loved one. https://www.todayville.com/after-25-years-how-do-albertans/

Sonographers are medical detectives They use their ultrasound training, technical skills, and understanding of the human body and its systems to decide if structures are normal or abnormal and adapt their investigation as they find clues throughout an examination. This information is then used by doctors to determine the necessary treatment or next steps for the patient.... The quality of an ultrasound exam is very dependent on the skills of the sonographer who completed the scan. If they are not a great detective who takes in all the evidence and finds all the clues, then it is difficult to solve the case. As well, no two cases are ever the same, so a sonographer’s day is never dull. Here's to our incredible sonographers at CAMIS (Source: Sonography Canada)
5 Things every Man should know this Movember: 1. Spend time with people who make you feel good. Stay connected. Your friends are important and spending time with them is good for you. Catch up regularly, check in and make time (keeping government health recommendations in mind, of course).... 2. Talk, more. You don’t need to be an expert and you don’t have to be the sole solution, but being there for someone, listening and giving your time can be life-saving. 3. Know the numbers. At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it’s right for you to have a PSA test. If you are of African or Caribbean descent or have a father or brother with prostate cancer, you should be having this conversation at 45. 4. Know thy nuts. Simple. Get to know what’s normal for your testicles. Give them a check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn’t feel right. 5. Move, more. Add more activity to your day. Do more of what makes you feel good. (Source: Movember Canada)
