Happy New Year 2021! I wanted to wish you a very happy New Year and I hope that everyone has had a wonderful Holiday Season and are ready for 2021. Here is hoping that this next year is better than the last. The Club is up and running with limited activities. Archery has been postponed until COVID restrictions have been lifted. We hopefully will be back to indoor archery after these restrictions have been lifted on January 8th. More on that once we know what is happenin...g. The outdoor range and walk-through course are still a go with lots of work being done on both this fall/winter. Please remember to sign in if you are taking advantage of the facilities. Fly Fishers have been meeting but with no drop ins available at this time. Hopefully this will change soon. A reminder that if you have not already purchased your 2021 membership that it is due up now. You can either purchase it at Tyee Marine or River Sportsman or send our Membership Director Doug Phyall a cheque (your membership card will be mailed to you): Doug Phyall, CRFW Membership Director, 138 Engles Road Campbell River V9H 1J8 Please mark your calendars for our next scheduled meeting. It will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 pm. This will either be held in person with social distancing measures in effect or via Zoom meeting depending on said restrictions. We will be discussing the feasibility and logistics of putting a roof over the firing line at the outdoor range along with standard club business We are in the process of developing a new website that will hopefully be up and running in the New Year with up-to-date content and links and are looking into the ability to purchase memberships online so keep your eyes open for the launch. If you have any questions or concerns to do with the Club, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or 250-203-7140. - Joanne Saunders

Dr. Bonnie Henry as of November 19 has extended the Covid-19 restrictions province wide. This includes recreational activities such as archery and fly tying. These lockdown measures are a direct result of the increase in Covid-19 exposures throughout the Province. As these restrictions are effective immediately we therefore have no choice but to suspend archery, both Monday and Friday evenings. This lockdown will be in effect until at least the second week of December and likely into the New Year. Please continue to monitor this Facebook page for updates to this announcement.

Hi All, I feel that it is time to have a CRFW general meeting. We need to discuss where we are going in terms of projects and activities and necessary protocols. We also have a couple of donation requests to deal with and I hope to have gas cards for the folks servicing the Rec. sites. If we have more than about 15 show up for the meeting, we will hold it in the archery range to facilitate physical distancing. Rod Saunders has written up some covid protocols for the archery ...restart and some of that is also applicable for the general club and possibly the fly fishers group. Masks will not be required but anyone that wishes to wear one is welcome to do so. Anyone not comfortable with attending the meeting, please stay at home. Tuesday, 7:00PM, September 15 Regards, Wade

Campbell River Fish and Wildlife Association 05.08.2020

COVID 19 SAFETY PLAN FOR CRFW ARCHERY RESTART Welcome back to the Campbell River and District Fish & Wildlife Association Indoor archery! Archery will resume on Monday evenings from 6:30 8:00 p.m. except holidays starting September 14, 2020. NEW RULES:... At this time archers MUST pre-register, there will not be any drop-ins. Please do not register for more than 3 Mondays at a time. The maximum capacity for archery is limited to 18 shooters. To register you must email the Archery Director at [email protected] with your name, contact phone number and date you wish to shoot to reserve your spot. The Archery Director will confirm or deny your spot, based on available spots, by return email. If you are ill, have symptoms of Coronavirus or have travelled in the last 14 days, we ask you to stay at home and return to enjoy archery another time. CRFW executive has the right to ask anyone displaying symptoms of illness to leave and come back another evening. CRFW has a separate entrance and exit to both the indoor archery range and the clubhouse. CRFW will strictly enforce this. Everyone MUST use hand sanitizer upon entry to the buildings. Physical distancing is in effect, please keep 2 meters (6 feet) between people unless you are in your own bubble group. Masks are not mandatory, but if you wish to wear a mask you may bring your own mask. If you cannot maintain 2-meter distancing, a mask should be worn. All club equipment will be handled and distributed by the archery executive running the range. Once equipment is assigned, persons using the equipment must ensure the equipment is not used by others. There is no sharing equipment with others. To maintain distance, the shooting line will be 6 people across only and we will rotate through shooters. Physical distancing at the targets must also be followed, therefore every other target will not be used to allow for this. All equipment must be sanitized with disinfectant wipes at the beginning of shooting and prior to being put away at the end of the evening. All contact surfaces will be disinfected by club personnel hourly. See more

The renewed and fantastically done outdoor walk through range now has signs! Thanks to our archery team for getting these done and posted. Weather is great and archery hunting season is just around the corner; go out and try it Members!

Hi All, I hope this email finds you all well and staying safe. While we have not had any meetings, things have been getting done. Brenda and Juha did the spring cleaning on the clubhouse, are maintaining the grounds and are working at cleaning up the gutter faces. Ian cleaned the debris off the clubhouse and archery range. John Herman did some work on the driveway. The rec sites at Echo and Beavertail lakes continue to be maintained. I replaced three broken boards on one picn...ic table and Jerry painted over the graffiti on the outhouse at Echo Lake and brushed the trails. Gord has put in a tremendous amount of work rebuilding all the archery targets on both the static range and the walk though range. The targets look awesome and should last for a long time. The static range and the walk through ranges are open. For those newer members the trail for the walk through range begins in the lower left hand corner of the property and winds its way through some 13 acres of prime property. Steve is looking at getting some new signage made for the walk through range. The indoor range is closed for the summer and we will look at possibly reopening in September. There will not be any opportunities for members to be involved in fish activities at the hatchery but my understanding from Stacey is that we should still get the pink eggs and Coho fry. We did file the grant report with DFO, applied for a new grant and have been approved for $2000 for this year. I am optimistic that we will be able to start having meetings again in September. We have enough space in the clubhouse to maintain social distancing with the number of people that normally attends. It is unlikely that we will be able to have the annual banquet as long as we remain in phase three of the covid recovery. Have a great summer and stay safe, Wade

While maintaining social distancing measures (thank you); Fred Bunting and Gord Eason have managed, on their own, to start replacing ALL 15 of our outdoor walk through range targets! They have rebuilt the holding structure, created donnacona target inserts (replaceable) and have finished six targets completely to date; they only a short while longer and all 15 will be done. They are desiging the walk through area as well, when complete we will create a map for our members. We will no longer have to worry about quick environmental, and animal, wear and tear...these will last a lot longer. This is such an appreciated tasks and something that will up lift our spirits and provide an EXCELLENT practice tools for us archers. Thanks Fred and Gord!

February 22nd Annual Awards and Fundraising Banquet - Thunderbird Hall It is banquet time of the year again! ... For those of you that may not be aware, the banquet is our main fund-raising event for the year. The funds raised allow the club to be involved in the many things that we do, maintain and build new facilities, and offer the programs that we do. The banquet is also where we give out our awards and enjoy some great food and music. For those of you that have never been to the banquet, it is one of the few opportunities that you will get to try some wild meats such as moose, deer, elk, bear and cougar. The band that we have this year is Midnight Runners. Tickets available at Tyee Marine and River Sportsman.
