Philanthropy is defined as goodwill toward other people. That includes monetary gifts, volunteering, and other humanitarian acts. There has been a misconception that one must be well-off to be a philanthropist but, in our experience with donors, we have discovered that philanthropy has more to do with values and priorities than with finances. Whatever amount people gift to the Community Foundation will contribute to the well-being and vitality of Campbell River. With the ge...nerosity of our donors, we build a lasting legacy for our region. Gifts of all sizes are pooled and permanently endowed; the principal of the fund is never spent and interest earned creates a lasting source revenue in the Campbell River area. For more information about who we help and what we do, please check out our website: https://www.crfoundation.ca "Helping People Help Others" #campbellriver #leaveyourlegacy #philanthropy

My wife and I came back to Campbell River because it’s a great place to raise our family! 3. Please list 5-10 things that make you come alive? My kids! Basketball, Camping, Biking, Golf, Hiking, Snow, Beer, Marvel Movies. 4. How long have you volunteered on the CRCF Board? 5 years! 5. Why do you volunteer on the CRCF Board? I love what CRCF does for the community. There is no other charity like this where someone can donate and that donation continues to benefit the community forever. Josh blesses the board with his analytical skills and by providing valuable perspective to all meetings. He is the board treasurer and we are so lucky to have him! Thank you Josh!

Neighbourhood Small Grants are another way we help people help others. The story below shows how a small neighbourhood grant helped boost an initiative designed to help people get supplies to the islands around Surge Narrows. The program, they call the Remote Community Grocery Delivery, was submitted by Sheila Hollanders and was so successful it continues to this day. "Getting supplies to the islands around Surge Narrows has never been easy. COVID added another level of d...anger to the whole endeavour. The families needed to have supplies brought in to the islands rather than everyone making individual trips to town. They needed some simple coordination to keep the cost reasonable and to reduce the collective work load. The grant from the Neighbourhood Small Grants Program helped people to experience the value of grocery delivery, establishing their habit of using the service. As word has spread, the number of participants has increased with each delivery, and been maintained even though the grant assistance has ended and we have started to receive bills for shipping. We now have twelve households participating regularly and six others use the service occasionally. We expect these numbers to double in the summer when the population increases. The homecare service also receives food bank supplies from Healthy Way. Over the winter, we have scheduled deliveries for every other week but expect that to increase to weekly during the summer with more customers. We are very grateful for the Neighbourhood Small Grant Program, which gave a wonderful boost to this initiative and helped prove its viability. We hope to continue the service, with an all-volunteer crew, well into the future." We are accepting applications for Neighbourhood Small Grants until April 15. Offering grants of up to $500, NSG helps connect neighbours and communities. We are here to help you if you have any questions or need help with your application.
