Good Afternoon Pearce Williams community! It's Butter here. I love Pearce Williams. I love this place more than I ever thought one human being could love a place. It was here, I fell in love with supporting children, adolescents and young adults. That is why I am excited to let you all know that I have been accepted to pursue my Master's in Education, and eventually PhD, in Counselling Psychology at the University of Alberta. This means that I will be moving across the cou...ntry to live out this dream. On a personal note, it has been a difficult year. It has been a difficult year for the entire world. At Pearce Williams, we care deeply about the well-being of our campers, volunteers and staff members. That is why we encourage them to make choices that support their well-being and growth. As Camp Director, I feel I must set the most positive, and authentic, example that I can for them. That is why, it is with a heavy heart, I let you know that my time as the Camp Director at Pearce Williams will be coming to a close in the next few weeks. It is with a heavy heart that we wanted to let the Pearce Williams community know that our long-time bookkeeper, David Ford, passed away early Monday morning. For over six years, David has been our bookkeeper and a beloved member of our full-time staff team. We are incredibly grateful for the six years of service David dedicated to Pearce Williams and we will miss his warmth and candour during lunchtime conversations. Happy March 1st everybody Can you believe it's already March?! It's been a little while since we've posted on our social media, so we thought we'd say hello and give you all a little update! Look at how beautiful camp is this March with some winter flurries 1. This morning, Pearce Williams staff members attended an Ontario Camps Association (OCA) meeting and we listened to many passionate summer camp professionals discuss plans for the summer of 2021. At this momen...t in time, we planning for summer camp, and we are asking our staff, campers and parents to #PlanForCamp too! 2. Camp registration is OPEN. As a precaution for COVID-19, some of our camp weeks are significantly smaller than they have been in the past so we encourage you to register and register ASAP. 3. For the past few weeks, Pearce Williams has been hosting seasonal farmworkers for their quarantine period. This means that we were closed to the general public and were not allowing hikers on site. Although Pearce Williams remains closed to the general public, those who wish to use our trails for hiking are now welcome to hike on site. We ask that all those who wish to hike on site wear masks and follow physical distancing guidelines. ...
