"Let us be diligent in washing our hands but not to the point of refusing to touch those who need it the most. Let us be vigilant in taking sanitary precautions but not to the point of closing our hearts to the lonely." - Jakob G. Palm

"Well, I'm a scientist, but I'm also a person of faith. And I can't ever look at something without asking the question of isn't there a higher power that in some way will help us to be the best version of ourselves that we could be?"

Hey FB friends, Have you ever heard of the Serenity Prayer? This is the "long version" as written by Reinhold Neibuhr a few decades ago... God, give me grace to accept with serenity... the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things which should be changed, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.

Hey there Facebook friends, Learning the stories of the saints may not be a large part of your tradition, but today is Valentine's day and there a bit of story behind this so-called hallmark holiday. :D The story of Valentine focuses on a man of God who honoured true love and was killed for it. ... February 14th, Valentine's Day is the legacy of a priest named Valentinus who defied the orders of Roman Emperor, Claudius II, that Roman soldiers should not marry. The emperor made this decision in order to keep his soldiers from weakening their will or softening their courage. He wanted their hearts to be bloodlessly cold. Valentinus had compassion on these soldiers and performed marriages in secret. In time, he was caught in his treasonous disobedience and was beaten by clubs and beheaded on February 14th in 269.

Heavenly Father, You brought us together here tonight. You designed that we would share this moment. This set apart, holy moment to once again be reminded by you, by our Spirit, that each one of us is a treasured possession to you. That together the community of faith, the church of Jesus Christ around the world is a treasured possession. ... God none of us are on the outside. May it be that your Spirit would speak to each one here. That they would know that they are in. That you are with them. That you are with us. That our presence on this campus is strategic by your design. That love would win. That love would make a difference. That the love of Jesus Christ would touch people here. May it be that deep within us, God you know our longings. You know the hopes that we have. But just God just touch us. That we might be whole in Jesus. Thank you Father for all of your promises that you will do this. In Jesus name. Amen. See more
