The great thing about dentistry is that our environment already followed very strict infection control guidelines before Covid-19. Upon arriving to our office, please wear a mask and the hand sanitizer that is provided. We will be taking your temperature at check-in and ask that you fill out the Covid-19 questionnaire. We are a mercury-free practice. However, many people still have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. These fillings are not particularly pleasing to the eye, and we know that by unavoidable design, silver/mercury fillings ultimately result in a weaker tooth structure. Professional dental cleaning can be performed at our office. We recommend that prophylaxis be performed twice annually as a preventative measure, but should be completed every 3-4 months for periodontitis sufferers. It should be noted that gum disease cannot be completely reversed, but dental prophylaxis is one of the tools Dr. Trotti can use to effectively halt its progression. #WednesdayWisdom Enamel is partly responsible for your teeths white appearance, and when it decays, your teeth may start to appear yellow. Decaying enamel could also be to blame for any pain you feel.

We recommends using a soft to medium toothbrush. Position the brush at a 45 degree angle where your gums and teeth meet. Gently move the brush in a circular motion several times using small, gentle strokes brushing the outside surfaces of your teeth. Use light pressure while putting the bristles between the teeth, but not so much pressure that you feel any discomfort.

We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure. The best defense against disease is information. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make wise decisions about your health care. We are happy to accept the Ignite Student Life plan at our office and will submit your dental claim on your behalf. We also accept direct payment from your insurance company for services that are 100% covered. For any dental procedures that are not covered at 100% we only charge you the difference that is not covered. Fillings, for example, according to your Balanced Plan, are covered at 75%. #WednesdayWisdom The enamel is the outermost layer of your teeth. Its primary purpose is to protect the rest of the tooth. The enamel is mostly made of calcium and phosphate, like your bones, but is stronger because of the specific proteins and crystallites that form it.

Some teeth require sectioning. This is a very common procedure done when a tooth is so firmly anchored in its socket or the root is curved and the socket cant expand enough to remove it.
