The 40-bed space ...is located in Ottawa and designed for former military members left homeless or precariously housed. Tenants pay under $500/ month, including utilities. The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation lists the average bachelor in the city at $933/ month as of 2019. Factor in that monthly Ontario Disability Support Program payments cap at $1,169 and you can see how Veterans' House helps ease a financial burden. But beyond that, Beaton says having a place to call home has helped with his self-esteem. Mission and Service is one of the ways that church reaches out to global neighbours that we haven't met but we know who need support. We have some church members who are concerned that in this time of pandemic the need of those in dire trouble are being forgotten. So a challenge has been issued!
