Alberta will be there to help our small and medium sized businesses relaunch, with a $200 million boost to help those most affected by COVID-19. Starting tomorr...ow, small and medium sized businesses, co-operatives, and non-profits who faced public health restrictions due to COVID-19 and experienced a loss of at least 50% of their revenue will be able to apply for up to $5,000 in grants to help cover the costs of re-opening their doors. This grant can be used as they see fit, including equipment and supplies to prevent the spread of COVID-19, like physical barriers, protective equipment and cleaning supplies, or paying rent, employee wages, replacing inventory and more. This is good news for businesses that rely on dividends or contractors, rather than wages.

It sure is a different April 30th than we're used to! Even though there is a month before the deadline, we are encouraging clients to get their records in as soon as possible. You don't want to be answering questions from us too late into May, especially farmers who will soon be out in the fields. Records can be dropped in the mail slot, emailed or sent through our web portal. Pick up and signatures are done electronically or scheduled in person in our vestibule. The tax deadline has been extended to June 1st. We hope to still have the majority of our client's returns finished by the normal deadline. We ask that our clients do not come in if you've been traveling in the last 14 days or feel ill. If you have the means, please inquire about getting set up on our free web portal to send your tax documents. We are also encouraging clients to make phone appointments, rather than in-person appointments in order to practice social distancing as much as we can!
