Alberta carbon tax increasing by 50% in the new year. Expect an additional $0.50 per GJ on your natural gas bill. Only the carbon tax will increase on Jan. 1, by 50 per cent, which means if you use 10 GJ per month to heat your home, the carbon tax portion of your bill will increase from $10 to $15. Revisiting the Gas Prices in November, your market gas price is currently at $2.33 / GJ We would saved $17 this month being on Ambit vs Enmax ($15 for gas consumption of 10 GJ + $2 on difference in administration fee.) If you are with Enmax (floating + 0.99), you are paying $3.32 / GJ ($2.33 / GJ + $0.99) and $7.10 Admin fee If you are with Ambit, you are paying $1.80 / GJ and $5 Admin fee You are saving $1.52 / GJ on your gas consumption and another $2.10 on Administration fees this month. For 10GJ of gas consumed, you save 10 GJ x $1.52 / GJ = $15.20 Difference in Admin fee is $7.10 - $5 = $2.10 Total saving: $17.30 ($15.20 + $2.10) Want to save some money on your utility bill? November's floating gas rate is currently averaging $2.60. If you are with Enmax (floating rate + 0.99) or ATCO (market rate + 0.89), you are paying $1.79 more per GJ with Enmax and $1.69 more per GJ with ATCO compared to Ambit Energy Canada Ambit's November Gas Rate is currently $1.80 per GJ... Time to revisit your bill? Note that the Administrative site fee for Ambit is $5 (same as ATCO). Enmax's site fee is at $7.10
