Canada Career Counselling 30.12.2020

Anxiety tends to be connected with worries about the future. With so many changes happening, and in the chaos of a holiday season, we understand that there's plenty to be concerned with. As anxiety pulls our minds into the future, it breaks us away from our current experiences as we whirl inside our heads with all the possibilities of what can go wrong. To combat this, it's helpful to do just the opposite - by actively being mindful of the present moment. This can look like ...paying attention to your breath by taking deep and slow breathes, or taking note of sensations in your body, like the feeling of the chair on your back, or the floor under your feet. Bringing our attention back to the present has been shown to help curb anxiety and reduce stress by lowering our stress responses to all the impending responsibilities so we can take each on one moment at a time. With working from home, segmenting boundaries between different components of our lives isn't exactly clear and easy. To help shine a light on how this can be done, our Founder @dr.laura___ interviewed our own April Dyrda about how the juggle between work-life balance can be addressedand even thrown out. Instead, April suggests reframing and approaching these boundaries with the concept of work-life wellness. By throwing out the preconception that our personal and professio...nal life are at odds, we make room to have these different areas invigorate us to help synergize us to live inspired and creatively, bringing our best from one area to another. "Work-life balance is a word we hear a lot, but that I’m trying to shy away from. I believe work-life balance sets up the idea that work and life are competing priorities, and that we can’t have both they conflict or fight for our time. Work-life wellness, in contrast, is the idea that work and life can flow together and energize each other in a more harmonious integration." Read more in our blog below! http://ow.ly/GQur50CFZcV
