Here are 5 affordable electric vehicles in Canada to put on your list! 1. Hyundai IONIQ electric: Good for everyday practical driving, the IONIQ electric has an MSRP of $41,449 and qualifies for the $5,000 federal rebate, plus provincial incentives in BC or Quebec.... 2. Kia Niro: Makes a good choice for those looking for a roomier EV option. There’s lots of space in this 5-passenger SUV great for families or those who are habitual haulers. Its MSRP starts at $44,995 for the 2020 model, with up to $13,000 in electric vehicle rebates. 3. Volkswagen e-Golf: At 198 km, the e-Golf's range is less than the IONIQ, but it also retails for less at $37,890. However, it does come with equal incentive qualification for up to $13,000 depending on whether you live in Quebec or BC! 4. Nissan Leaf: The revamped Nissan Leaf hatchback is attractive and practical. With its 40kWh battery and 147hp, the base Nissan Leaf SV offers an all-electric range of 243km. The Leaf’s $44,298 MSRP is quite reasonable especially for the range you get, and that’s before the $5,000 federal rebate and any provincial programs. 5. Chevrolet Bolt: The all-electric Chevrolet Bolt hatchback is as sensible as it is efficient. It’s also the top-ranging EV at 417km on a full charge while staying under the $45,000 threshold. That makes it the ideal choice for anyone worried about range for road trips and long commutes. With the $5,000 federal rebate and any potential provincial rebates or EV incentives, the Chevrolet Bolt has excellent value.
The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is the province’s sole provider of vehicle insurance and its monopolistic nature has earned the government entity no shortage of contempt. You can’t take your business elsewhere ICBC calls all the shots. And if you don’t like their rates, well you can always ride a bike.

Ontario is the second most expensive province when it comes to car insurance, after B.C. Driving up and down the 401 doesn’t come cheap; the average auto insurance in Ontario is over $1,500 a year. In 2015, Ontario was the most expensive with average premiums of $1,281 per year, but its $247 hike doesn’t seem too bad in comparison to B.C. Experts point to rampant fraud as the main reason rates are up. Generous accident benefits laws have also factored. Vehicle insurance is co...mpulsory in Ontario, but unlike B.C. you have the option to shop around for the best deal through private insurers. Take the time to compare brokers and get a rate that’s competitive for the coverage you need. The Government of Ontario announced ""transformative"" measures last April but it doesn't appear to be saving drivers money. In February 2020, an average 1.56% rate increase came into effect, sending the average premium from $1,505 to $1,528 by our calculations. Some insurance companies increased their rates by as much as 11%.

A deep clean is a great way to get those new car vibes from your older vehicle. And what better place to start than the seats! Here are some tips for cleaning both fabric and leather car seats: Fabric Seat: First, use a vacuum to remove larger dust and debris. Then, with a mixture of water and specialized fabric cleaner, spray the mixture onto your seats. Use a very soft bristle brush to brush the seats. If you have a wet/dry vacuum, use it to take off as much of the water as... possible. When finished, leave the vehicle with the warm heat setting on and all doors and windows closed for about 15 minutes. Leather Seat: Vacuum first. Mix water with a PH-balanced leather cleaner in a spray bottle. Spray the seats with the solution and scrub the seat surface with a soft sponge or cloth. Then, use a microfiber towel to dry the seats. If you want to condition your leather upholstery, find a conditioner that is Vitamin E enriched. We recommend conditioning every 6 months.
Happy New Year from Canada Drives! Cheers to 2021 being a better year for the whole world!

According to Transport Canada, to qualify as a winter tire in Canada, it must be labelled with the 3-peaked mountain/snowflake (Alpine) logo. However, British Columbia's mandatory requirements include all-season M+S (mud + snow) tires too. Instead of the 3-peaked mountain/snowflake (Alpine) logo, you'll find the 'M+S' designation on the right all-season tire. Each mud & snow tire must have a tread depth of 3.5mm to be considered acceptable for BC's winter roads.

If your back wheels are sliding due to ice and your car starts to spin, it’s known as oversteer. To correct a rear wheel skid you should: Ease off the gas... Turn into the slide with your steering wheel to ensure the entire car is being straightened out. It will alleviate the skid and put you back wheels on track to complete control your vehicle. Over-steering can perpetuate the problem, though, so maintain a cool head to prevent a knee-jerk reaction to a slide.

A loose cap on your fuel tank is a common reason for the light to turn on, and your first clue is if it comes on right after filling up at a gas station. Always check the cap first, it’s the easiest thing to do and doesn’t require any technical help to figure out. If the cap is somehow defective, replacing it isn’t expensive and is an easy job for any mechanic. Other reasons for the light’s presence relate to specific components under the hood.
